"If single women are looking for single men only or vice virsa is it swinging? "
No.
Swinging would be couples playing with couples.
We just like sex, whatever it's called. |

Yes it is, it's a myth that swinging is for couples only.
"Sexually liberated or promiscuous."
"a person who dresses in a fashionable way and who goes to a lot of parties and nightclubs, or someone who is willing to have sex often with many different people". |

IMO, no its shagging, so is male/male, fem/fem..swinging is couples, multiples etc.etc.
Lots of people on here don't swing, wouldn't be seen dead in a club etc.
Nothing wrong in it, but it's not swinging as such..but all is good, its all sex

I've seen this said before but nowhere does it seem to be supported.
OED just says "Sexually liberated or promiscuous" which includes above option so, yes. |

I would say technically no, but emotionally it is possibly. For example meeting in a club because you like being watched or whatever.
I guess it's more about attitude. If you think you are, then you are. |

What does it matter what you call having sex with someone you aren't in a relationship with? It's sex, call it what you want. If there's no sex, it's socialising. |

Who consults a dictionary to check if they're calling sex the right thing?!
Actually the first definition I found online stated it was an act by people in committed relationships. The stats they gathered to measure how many people 'swing' were done on that basis.
If most people were asked if a man meeting a woman for casual sex was 'swinging' they'd say
It's only on this site that people make it a big deal because there are so many single people using a "swinging" site which is only a swinging site because of its original history. |

I mostly meet single fellas, but had MMFs, FMFs, MFMFs. I guess real swingers need someone to swing with lol. Overall, I don't care what label is, but it's great fun. |

I consult a dictionary because I try to make sure that my views are supported by evidence.
I am outspoken from time to time (OK, maybe more than that) but I do try to make sure I have evidence to support what I say. This reasoned debate does seem to be lacking here in many threads. Hence you will see references from myself and one or two others to playing chess with pigeons. |

How do you imagine the lexicologists verified their definition? |

" On setting up a single profile I was surprised how many men were just advertising/messaging looking for "vanilla" sex and wondered if they were on the right web site. "
What kind of sex do you want then? Most of my sex is pretty tame, even when it involves 3 people. |
