What cover of a song, do you like more than the original?
For me I think I like Disturbed's cover of Sound of Silence more Simon and Garfunkel's original. |

There and to the left a bit |
Not sure there are any I can think of that better the original but there are a few that I'd put up there with the original such as:
Futureheads - Hounds Of Love
Madness - It Must Be Love
The Commitments - Try A Little Tenderness
The Bluebeaters - Roll With It (brilliant ska version of Oasis) |

Disturbed are brilliant, they cover quite a lot of songs in their own unique way
I do like Land Of Confusion as well though

The Ten Thousand Fists album is solid start to finish, but Land of Confusion is by far a stand out. David Draiman takes these songs and really makes them his own. Outstanding vocalist. |

"The stereophonics, handbags and gladrags.. way better than Rod Stewart's version.
Oh, I am Kelly Jones in disguise when I get in the bath
Mary Coughlan's version beats them all "
Canna fault you there, that is rather superb |

I've not idea how I posted it on the wrong thread but anyhow.....
.
.
I don't like cover versions in general I think there weak imitations.... The only two I think I've heard that have changed the original and probably improved it are Hendrix's all along the watch tower (Dylan's was a bit screechy on harmonica) and the guy who slowed down tears for fears mad world but to this day I've no idea who it was lol |

I'd always go Cash over NIN, and he also does a brilliant job of I see a darkness by Bonnie Prince Billy.
Also Arctic Monkeys covers of Love Machine, and Diamonds are forever are pretty magic too |

"I would have gone for Rufus Wainwright's cover, but Jeff Buckley's is a pretty strong contender.
Agree, but prefer original"
I like Puddles Pity Party's version of it too if you aren't too disturbed by a 7 foot clown |

Elbow do some great covers Massive Attacks Teardrop, Destinys Child's Independant Woman, (definitely better than original), Amarie's One thing, and Amy Winehouse's Back to Black
I also prefer Cakes version of I will survive |

"Limp bizkit behind blue eyes much better than the original by the rolling stones.
What about the version The Who sang? "
I'm I confusing myself again? More than likely I'm sure I read somewhere that the stones wrote it. I am more than likely wrong.
I do apologise for any upset to music buffs. |

Ezra furman normally drops one or 2 good covers into his live sets
He did a great version of Jackie Wilsons - you love keeps lifting me higher
And when I saw him on Monday he did a good version of where eagles dare by misfits |

I heard Elbows version of Bowies bewlay brothers shortly after he passed and it was a quite wonderful version. Garveys voice suits it so perfectly. |
