This has to be one of the most tedious and soul destroying things in the world. Creating a great CV, that really sells you. Sending it off, filling in countless application forms with the same information over and over again. Constantly checking your inbox to see if you've had a reply and feeling deflated when there's nothing in there. Then when you get a reply it's "Thank-you for your interest however......"
Then again, as a single guy on here it's all very familiar!! |

Haha cheers. Luckily I'm not unemployed so it's not like my life depends on getting a new job, but getting a bit bored of the two hour morning commute and spending most of my disposable income on petrol! |

There's a leaflet round my way saying you can earn 1000s while working from home for only a few hours a day....I didn't mind the prostituting.... But that's 1000s was well exaggerated |

"At least you won't be asked in interviews if you're planning to have children... so there is that."
No but I'll be making sure that any potential employers know that I do have children and that my limited time with them is very important to me. |

You are incorrect.

Questions you can’t ask when recruiting
You must not ask candidates about ‘protected characteristics’ or whether they:
are married, single or in a civil partnership
have children or plan to have children

No I meant it's not hugely illegal, I reserve that for recruiting drug mules, this is just a little bit illegal like not wearing a seatbelt |

When I used to go to interviews for legal jobs I would always leave my engagement ring at home for this very reason.
Good luck, OP! You'll find something that you enjoy and the work will all be worth it. |

There is no such thing as hugely illegal or not hugely illegal.
There is simply illegal ( or not).
Discrimination in recruiting is a serious matter, and should be treated as such.

"Nepotism is rife nowadays......"
yup.
I've rarely had a job through the normal channels. I've always known people and managed to do it that way for the most part
You seen the ridiculous application processes these days? no thanks |

In my 12 years in car sales (4 different employers) I didn't have a single interview or ever fill in an application form. Just moved through networking. Wish my network was bigger at times like this! |

Half the time the CV is scanned by a computer these days- not even read by a person.
I don't get how an algorithm can determine suitability but obviously it must work.
I know it's a points system, but I find it depressing, the job market has changed so much over the last 20 years. |

It's crazy really, when I'm recruiting, I browse the CV and look for a few key things in terms of employment history but generally unless their cover letter or CV puts me off completely, I prefer to Base my assessment of them on a face to face basis. But just trying to get an interview for myself is bloody frustrating! |
