... Okay... look its just a thing right; I don't have to be shy about it... but I am... fearing the judgement of the forums (not really, bollocks to you)
Anyway....
I wish you all a Happy Samhain; whether you celebrate this as the new year turning; the end of summer; a harvest festival or well whatever....
anyway... Blessed Be/Bright Blessings...
I imagine this is what it feels like to "come out"... phew |

I shall put out food and wine... although I live in a rural setting so there shouldn't be a gang of d*unken youths rolling around on my doorstep! (although the occasional d*unken badger may be present)
Anyway; it's a beautiful day here in the wilds... as clear and blue as the last day of summer should be. |

"I'm still unsure on what's going on here "
It's like old skool Halloween; does that help?
Its a day to remember and honour our dead; for those that we have lost. It also a time of reflection; of inward looking in an effort to find some peace we look to our flaws and faults and try to divine (or meditate or just you know "think") about acceptance of those flaws and faults or finding a way to change them....
.....or you know, dress up and go banging on doors dressed as ghouls/ghosts/Disney characters demanding sweets with menaces... whatever floats your boat |

November the 11th is for those we have lost through war (either whilst on active service or as a result of active service) and those that were lost during war (as civilians); it is a good thing to remember the sacrifices that people have made; they will not be forgotten.
Samhain is more about those we have lost on a personal level; those of our family and friends... some would tell you it is a time when the "veil"/"shadow"/"gap" between the world of the dead and the world of the living are "thinnest" (although the analogy is poor); and that we have halloween because "bad spirits" are able to "cross-over"; I make no comment regarding this....
For me... It is a time to remember those I have lost; what they have taught me and how I can use what they have taught me (through reflection) to make positive changes in my life....
.... this really is like coming out.... |

From reflection? Many things; but mostly acceptance.... which can be so very hard to learn, that the transitory nature of existence is at odds with the demands that we place upon ourselves in everyday life; thus we become frustrated which leads to sorrow (the "we" is of course the royal "we"; you (the royal "you") may in fact be content beyond stress and such sorrow))

Makes sense I suppose, I gave up on believing stuff years ago... There's just too much belief required and that belief stuff is hard work, now I drink alcohol knowing that the chemical effects will relieve me of some of the god almighty boredom in life.... The best thing about alcohol is I don't need no belief in its powers, it just works every time, I like stuff like that, I don't want a car that you need a festival of spirituality for it to start, you don't need belief that it will reach its destination(coz I've got sat nav).... It's uncomplicated, you turn the key and it goes brum brum.... I struggle to understand why humans need to complicate there already complicated life's with more complications of stuff that may or may not do anything |

Given it's Celtic/pagan roots I heard that Halloween became commercialised by the Americans in the 1950's and then it came over here eventually with the whole trick or treating dress up etc which never used to happen before?...

I can smell it..... I'm lying here as dusk has fallen with both velux windows wide open as its been such a glorious day, and I can smell a faint trace of wood or leaf burning through the woods with the first of that distinctly autumnal night air, it's a glorious, magical smell!! |

No, so put that little dream out of your head this instant
It's more making a connection with Mother Earth (he said in a hippy-like manner) |
