As a man an his dog was struggling earlier, his dog can be strong an now the man is avin problems medically! It's too much! So I went an checked on the man as I reconised him as his tone of voice sounded like he was avin trouble, with the dog, which he was due to the poxy fire works, started at 7pm. Thankfully cause I'm relaxed so is my cat, an now the Windows an door is closed she ain't bothered, thanks! But i think there should be a law put in place for times an area's where people can av displays, but then it wood get complicated with people that can't get out...... |

"Should restrict firework season to two evenings. November 5th, and if necessary, the nearest Saturday.
Twats setting them off all over the place "
It's also Diwali this weekend (Sunday) and they have fireworks too. Diwali isn't a fixed date.

After reading the insert on some fireworks this evening)
You can set fireworks off until midnight any day of the year. Legally, the exceptions to this are new year, Diwali and one other date (which I now can't recall) where you're able to set them off until 1am. So I you hear them after this you can reasonably call the police.
To be honest, having had pets and having children, people need to lighten the fuck up. |

That's cool, but when they're let off about a quarter of a mile a way, how can you pinpoint exactly where they're coming from |

wish more understand with the same of fire work sold to the general public, cause anyone from 18upwards can buy them with no trainging! I guess with sparklers, u can tell which, one end is kind of clear u light, but my cat did not come outside so means she will av to stay once at dusk cause of the fire works, so if I'm out after then I've got to close window before I go out! An sake up at 1am to open it again so she can go out.....

Every noise starts my dog barking. We had a few loud bangs this evening, that made him bark. After shushing him a few times he stopped reacting to them and went to sleep. I wish I could get him to stop barking at the post man, who always talks loudly on his phone as he's delivering post. |

"Fireworks shouldn't be available for the public to buy. The end. "
And because you are irritated by fireworks you think our right to have them should be taken away? If someone commits an offence with fireworks let the justice system deal with them. Last time I looked we lived in a free country not a nanny state. |

Let's remember the 5th of November, and no worries about dogs up here, we just shoot them if they worry the sheep.
Of course death to the papists, burning at the stake, or in my case don't burn the bloody steaks, we paid good money for them as the wife said last year |

My dog was fine with fireworks till about 3 years old then all of a sudden, it changed..
So personally I think fireworks should be banned...
I prefer animals to kids, so it's just my opinion on my preference ...

OP it is not us who have been letting off the fireworks that frightened your neighbour. Fireworks are a nuisance but we live in a free country. People are entitled to have parties and fun , most likely it's Halloween celebrations. Earlier is better than later, as later many people are sleeping, especially kids.

My two dogs LOVE fireworks. Get very excited. I myself am terrified of them. Still managed to go to an organised event for the dogs to enjoy them but I was very uncomfortable.
Had quite a few going off round here at stupid o'clock so kind of agree with those who say they should only be available to certain groups. How would you police that though? |

"Should restrict firework season to two evenings. November 5th, and if necessary, the nearest Saturday.
Twats setting them off all over the place "
What we need are a few extra hours between 7pm and midnight, for two nights a week. Firework displays should only be allowed during that time - before kids have gone to bed but after dogs have been walked.
I'm going to write to Bill Oddie and see if he can lobby parliament to make this a reality. With all the tax the big corporations dodge, they should be made to buy all the fireworks and create at least 6 extra hours at night for the aforementioned days.
Also:
It seems to me that it's the "bang" of the fireworks that's the upsetting part. While we work on creating those extra hours, I think it might be a good idea to replace ALL fireworks with coloured flags instead. That way, children van organise their own displays! They can hold up the flags and make whatever noise they want - whenever they want!
You may say I'm a dreamer.... But I'm not the only one. Actually, I probably am. I definitely should have had more sleep last night.

Oh and by the way I'm a paramedic of over 10yrs (and can read but struggle to decipher your post)and if we had received a call for someone that might fall or might be short of breath because of fireworks we would be looking to charge someone with wasting our time. |

The problem is firworks have got more "powerful" over the years.
Back in the 60s firworks were queiter and fewer firworks made a bang.
Now people seem to go for the ones which make the most noise and repeat the noise as often as possible.
Restrict the type of firworks to those which dispaly different lighting effects and have a limit on the noise generated by individual firworks |

I think my small dog only loved to see them as id let him see if he could cope around loud noises as me and my dad use to go watch speedway and didnt want to leave them at home alone when we went out so they got use to the loud bangs which i think is a good way of desensitizing them |

I may very well be seen as a Scrooge here but as we have a disabled child with sleep issues, I have come to absolutely detest fireworks.
It can take up to two hours to settle our Son every time he wakes up and he's prone to waking up during the night with muscle-spasms as it is, without the added hassle of fireworks.
There's only so much you can sound-proof his bedroom.
So sour-puss me would have them banned after 9pm if I could and restricted to two nights a year and to licensed displays only! |
