Has anyone been watching that programme called 'Married at first sight' where they are matched up and don't meet their wife/husband until the wedding day?
Fascinating and scary and brave all at the same time! |

A few of us have been commenting on it.
I can work the science if there's an eligible hot guy ready.
It's a fascinating concept and I like the idea of them being screened for readiness. We hear how pof etc are just knocking shops, under the guise of finding 'the one'. |

Arranged marriages are as old as marriage itself. The process might not be as scientific as this but everyone I know who either wants or is in an arranged marriage is an advocate. I'd be interested to know how this works long term with people for who is isn't the cultural norm. |

I saw a programme once on arranged marriages and was struck by how well some of them DID work - because both parties were totally committed to making it work, and love did indeed follow.
I think true committment is what is lacking in many modern marriages. |

Having spoken to a Muslim guy I know who has asked his mum to find him a suitable girl I think if the two people are allowed to meet and fully discuss their hopes and expectations there's as much or more chance of an arranged marriage working. I think a romantic match leaves too much to chance. |

I think the "science" part is bollocks. It's just a few people making some judgements about compatibility.
But I like watching to see what happens anyway. |

Not seen it..
But wouldn't watch it anyway as I think marriage in this day and age is outdated, whether people choose to do it conventionally or otherwise |
