Not so much now that they hang out in the streets giving out watch tower and awake, I can't interact with them, its best all round, because I only end up wanting to corrupt them, or try to spread the good news of Marquis de Sade |

No, Most houses have got security gates so they don't really bother round by me... When I get people buzzing the gate I'll usually just let the dogs go down and bark at them |

Yes have had the knock, to be honest they are not nearly as annoying as the person asking whether we need a new roof who when asked what type of tiles are on it clearly have no idea..
or the ones who say would you like a new drive when its better than anything they could provide and its clearly feckin sound..
or the one's who are trying to sell security etc etc ..

I find the local mosque to be more annoying then Jehovah's witnesses. No consideration for local residents on prayer day. The kingdom all on the other hand. As own off road parking |

I had occasion to challenge their objection to blood transfusion during transplant surgery which helped save the life of a family member...
But I've never encountered one who tried to force their views on me...

If the blood donor stickers in the back windows of the cars on the forecourt isn't enough to deter them,
Asking them in to discuss their views on god to my black mass congregation currently in my front room definitely makes your house a no go area. |

My late mum used to ask them in for tea LoL she would quite happily talk to them and say that she would read their booklet if the would read one of hers, they are not allowed .
She was a buhdist |

Not for a long time...
I found inviting them in and talking to them about anything other than god and trying to get them to donate to friends of the earth seems to put them off.
Works on Mormons too!

Yup now and again. Always invite them in and sooner or later their eyes wander to the bookshelf littered with books on wicca and witchcraft and then they leave |

Ridiculously hot Jehovah's knock on my door from time to time. I have very corrupt thoughts about them but I'm always polite and say I'm not looking for single guy's at the moment but I'm game for a mmf |

Not got a problem with them at all. They seem to respect me and my own point of view and not force theirs on me once I make it clear that I am completely godless. The ones that I know are all genuinely good folk too.
They are the most polite and positively happy bunch I've ever met.
Also, whilst I don't agree with the blood transfusion thing, they don't ever get any mention of all the voluntary good work and humanitarian aid they do in places like those that suffer natural disasters. And they are conscientious objectors and have never started a war on others that believe differently to them.
The fella that came up with it in the late 1800's had some funny ideas though |

they are just people with their own religious beliefs. They still have rights, they still have children who attend local schools, there is really nothing different about them to anyone else with a different perspective of religion.
In my family, I have 4 sisters. One sister and her family are JWs, and another sister and her family are Born Again Christians - to be perfectly honest the christians lead double lives.
my sister who is Christian is my birth mother - she spent a lot of time with me as a child, until she married her husband when I was 14, suddenly I was no longer the centre of her world, she now has 3 kids, and 2 grandkids, unless I contact her, I never get a call from her. Bit of a kick in the stomach eh?
so the next time JWs call at your door, don't be rude to them, they just want to share their beliefs with you, you do not have to take it, you could just say "sorry not for me" you could say " tell me more to understand" then make an informed decision not to go on |

I (f) was staying in a gite in a remote area of France (dirt track up to property) and a knock came on the door. 2 guys stood there suited and booted, going on about how pretty the cottage was and was it up to standard, I thought they were Gite inspectors. I then realised that every other sentence had the word Dieu in it. The penny dropped and all of a sudden my knowledge of French language disappeared. Yep the were JW.

Quite a few times round my area. I'm a mischievous devil so once I thought I'd answer the door fresh from the shower with just a flannel-sized towel held in front of my pride and joy to see what would happen.
It was a couple in their 40s and the man kept diverting his eyes all over the place whilst stammering they might come back another time. The woman stood a little back but her eyes were staring all over me.
I imagine that they aren't used to such senanigans from others ha! |

I've not a problem with them knocking once & conversing with them about their & my beliefs, but I went to a Sunday service once, didn't like it so didn't go again, found my beliefs in the pagan/fae world..
JW's would still knock on the door nearly every month though and try again.
They are no different to the non profile fitting guy on here who sends a message to you everyday, even after you've said no thanks. S putting the Thor's Hammer on the door was our version of "Block"

I did a little light research out of curiosity, and the poor buggers are persecuted in Russia, South Korea and Israel for their beliefs. In some countries the law forbids them outright! Funny how it never gets any media attention other than occasional negative stuff. I guess that's what happens when the religion isn't one of the richest organisations in the world. |

Yeah they are harmless enough, until you really get to see the darker side of it, that's when harmless little JWs show their true light, I'm not saying all, but there is a core element within the organization, that is rotton, and allow horrible things to happen, and turn a blind eye to flouting of laws, to suit their own agenda.
But that's just probably me bring bitter |

It's a strange one to embrace, but if Jehovah's Witnesses believe just 144,000 people go to heaven and all the remaining people who obey God live forever on a paradise Earth....
I suppose if it gives them comfort and peace of mind, I envy them..

They have never been to my door thankfully although I see them regularly standing in the city centre with their little magazine rack.
In fact I see them standing around in virtually every city centre these days both in the UK and in Europe.
I have yet to see them in a conversation with anyone else but their fellow believers though.
They stand around every train station in Budapest for instance and the crowds split around them with a distance of 3 or 4 meters. Lol
Seems a bit of a thankless task to me. |

I also once said to the church types 'I believe there is a god, I'm just not sure its your god or someone else's & as I don't believe any religion started by man I don't necessarily feel the need to converse with him via a religion at all. So I live my life trying not to harm others if when the time comes this doesn't get me to see the light then the god that maybe exists wasn't for me in the first place". They have little comeback to that..

Not had one in about 5 years now i think they give up door to door near me. "had there been an almighty god present, why must you stand in the cold and sell him to me? All the death, destruction and unspeakable crimes around the world are committed by people who believe in your god and a greater good. why should i disrespect myself and accept defeat as a human being, relinquish my pride and self worth to put trust and faith in a god who does not exist" to which he replied " im sorry i cant answer that sir but i can show you a few things that may change your mind. He did and it never. That was that lol |

I was raised by JW's and most of my family still believe. I got out of it first chance I got. Too many ideas I couldn't ever subscribe to. For eg, women are less important than men. Gay equals wrong. Letting kids die if they need a transfusion. If a member of the congregation is kicked out, none of their friends or family are allowed to see or speak to them. Wanking is a sin. Sex outside marriage is a sin. Etcetera etcetera.
Not for me. However, turning away from these restrictions has helped to form my humanist standpoint today, so I'm grateful for it all in a way. Plus fornication definitely had an extra edge to it once I was in the saddle. As for wanking, well you'd be a fool not to! |

I was raised in a strict Christian background. Wish I'd got out if it earlier but too busy keeping parents and co happy. Still, no way as wacky as the JWs, in fact my Dad used to tie them in knots with proper theology and they'd wish they hadn't knocked |

With the JW's, If you sus its them first, get in quick with 'Oh, you've come for the orgy? Come in and get undressed. There's a few others here already. They're in the lounge, its on the right' (They tend not to come back.)

Correct.
My dred friend, Del, when I first met him he was living homeless in a park in London. There was a big Rasta temple behind the park but my mate said he never got anything from them - it was the cottaging homosexuals who looked after him best.

Would it not be more polite simply to answer the door, say 'no thank you, I/we are not interested and if you don't mind, please can you not call again?" Bid them good day and close the door?
I know several Witnesses, all of whom are good, kind people. My mums best friend is a Witness and she spent 5 days and nights with my family and I at my mum's hospital bed before my mum passed away recently. I was grateful to her for her spiritual support as well as her physical support.
As for three nude people going to the door, why do that just to shock and upset people? Would you do that say to a postman or travelling salesman? Not nice at all. |

I think in most part we're all able to cope with the amount of personal tragedy and suffering that comes from the consequence of living in a social based society....
But when you experience first hand exposure to mass scale suffering it's almost impossibly hard to find peace in your own mind when you leave it behind no matter how much you've done to help ease that suffering, you never walk away feeling you've done enough...

Must be 24-6 She tries so hard with those baby jesus magazines and i feel for her she didnt look happy at all. Someone in her life has totally messed her up and i feel like stepping in and saying look babe, theres more to life enjoy yourself. Believe in yourself! and no one else. You just know shes gunna marry a pastor, be abused, live in silence and fear. Sucks.
"
Why do you 'know' any of that? Have you engaged her in a normal conversation at all?
Judgmental, much?
The JWs don't have Pastors by the way, they have Elders. |

There's some serious misunderstanding in this thread. Maybe next time chat with them and you're realise I don't know all you think you do about them. Full respect. Never in the news, in wars etc |

"Imagine the outrage in some of these responses if it was about Islam
No mention of racist etc here I see "
Easy targets JWs, very meek people. Hence their hope (they only hope based on their beliefs) that they, the meek, shall inherit the earth. Judgment Central this site is! |

About a year ago now, they knocked on the front door as I was going to open it, they came walking into my house, cheeky fuckers I asked what they where doing just walking into the house, all they said was we are from the church, so I get the fooking out of my house and never to come near again. |

Possibly not JWs then, they'd never refer to their place of worship as a church. Maybe they were opportunist burglars? |

I've never known them to walk in without being invited, are you sure they were JW's and not High Court bailiffs? |

Think you can safely say they was about to burgle your gaff. Witnesses would never just walk in or refer to themselves as from the church |

As an aside. One of the clubs we go to in Germany is directly opposite the JW's meeting hall/church (call it what you will)
Quite often when we go to the club on a Sunday we are competing with the JW's for parking places.
I always think it is quite funny. |

There's a nest of them around the corner from me. They do test drives down my road by sending the whole tribe out at once...with their kids so you can't swear at them, or at the very least would feel guilty swearing and slamming the door. |

My uncle has some knock on his door once. He invited them in as he had some questions. He spoke to them for an hour, firing loads of questions about religion at them and some answers to their questions. Eventually they requested to leave because he was 'a bit too much' for them!

Some years ago I know someone who had a similar thing with Mormons. They knocked on the door. He said he wasn't intersted. As he went to close the door one blocked it with his foot. So he opened him knocked him out with one punch then closed the door.

Some of my JW family refused to acknowledge our daughter when she was born, because her dad and I weren't married at the time. That attitude forces a person to make choices. I never spoke to them again. As for my charming dad, he could be pretty free with his fists when I was a frightened teenager trying to escape from that religion. I still have nightmares about that awful time. Don't confuse conscientious objection with meekness. I know plenty of young people in those days who attempted suicide as a means of escape from the 'elders' and their determination to smash up families. There may be plenty of nice, ordinary people amongst them. But believe me, there are plenty of out and out cunts as well. |

Yes two lots. One pair come in and have a cuppa and speak to my father and the other two like to come and speak to my nephew. Always find them in my lounge chatting away. Practically like furniture now. |

"Not got a problem with them at all.
The fella that came up with it in the late 1800's had some funny ideas though "
That because no one really tells anyone that side of them, just the old style knocking on doors and bible bashing. I used to hate them coming round, as they didn't stop preaching and wouldn't take no for an answer. |
