We enjoyed it because I made sure we visited most of the places for real on our Southern Europe Grand Tour.

Also we finally have Meercat Movies, so we'll be back to going most weeks now

This happened to me when I had Orange Wednesdays: Mrs ddc would come to a few, our son would come to a few others, but there were still some where no-one wanted to come too (I had a couple of awkward moments with my niece watching Gamer and the original Girl With The Dragon Tattoo )

Had I been on Facebook I would have started a local Orange-Wednesday-but-no-funny-business group

This was our last film too and I thought 2/3 of it was very good (nothing at all to do with my girl crush on Eva Green of course, who looked amazing). However, having read, and loved, all three books it was disappointing that the last part of the film differed so much from the original story - and that the tale seemed to be neatly tied up (which isnt the case in tge 1st book) with no prospect of sequels. The 2nd and 3rd books are, IMO, quite a bit darker than the 1st and developed the various characters, and the world/history of Peculiars in much more depth .... think they would have made good films too but it felt like the production company had kind of dumbed down and altered the 1st book so the movie could be sold to the family market.

The book was great I haven't seen the film yet but I'm already a bit apprehensive as it's set in America instead of England!"

They've done that lots of times and it's not harmed the adaptation, it's how they handle the pacing and themes that bothers me

"at the cinema & was it any good?

Mine was - Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children & it was brilliant albeit a tad scary in places

We're just off to watch this with my 10yr old. I thought he'd want to watch Trolls or Storks!

Last film was Funding Dory.

Spot the school holiday films.... "

Storks worth a watch. Really funny x

Might suggest that next!

Miss Peregrine was fantastic!!! Very dark but to be expected from a Tim Burton film. 10 yr old was a bit scared but was fine when I said there would be a happy ending (then kept fingers crossed!!!!)

The book was definitely better than the film, but it was still a good movie - certainly worth a watch (although it does feel a bit odd that the film was set in America)

The Light Between Oceans.

Very moving, and some amazing scenery, but it needed a touch of Hardy at the end.

"Recently watched Macbeth with Michael Fassbender, very impressive if you like Shakespeare. "

I thought visually it was stunning, but it was oppressive in places, which I get is the point but still made it hard going in places

Mr Fassbender is ridiculously good though, and some of the locations are beautiful, shot alot of it in northumberland

Really, really liked it. A lot of humour, a lot of attention to detail, especially with Ben Affleck's character. A neat ending too.
