Premium FAB?
Jump to: Newest in thread
I'd be interested to hear the forum's thoughts on the following:
The site seems to be plagued with immature single blokes who can't be bothered with anything more than sending "fancy a fuck" type emails then being abusive when they receive a rejection - if anything the problem appears to be getting worse.
This obviously spoils the experience for the more genuine types amongst us. It's not unusual to get chatting to a new member only to find they're put off by the attitude of some guys on here and so they leave.
What do members think to a more premium service, only accessible to those with verifications for instance? I'd pay more for membership if it filtered out some of the muppets!
One other thought, could there be a filter for emails under a minimum character count or without photos attached - I appreciate all systems are open to abuse but something needs to change!

My philosophy is that I'm not going to let the behaviour of others impact my experience on the site.
If other guys are dicks, let them be. It gives me the opportunity (if I take it) to make myself stand out from the crowd.
All this 'I'm a better Fabber than the other guys on here so let's segregate the likes of me out' is all a load of bobbins really.
There's a niche for everyone.
It's up to ME to impress the people I hope to meet, and in not going to blame anyone else's behaviour if I fail to do so. It just means that I need to be better and work harder at selling myself.
So Fab is fine as it is. Make it work for YOU! |

I think Fab should boot the foolish off the site who think a faux 'legal' warning on their profile is of any benefit to anyone. Indeed, had such persons bothered to read the sites FAQ then they would know it's a waste of server space.
I'd pay a premium to get rid of the gullible, sheep like mentality fools on Fab. |

I think......
Hmmmm.... I think that I put up the most honest and recent photos that I have. I write a profile that best summarises me and my reason for being here. And then I don't send messages. I wait. Patiently. Respectfully; for the wink or message.
That's what I do, what I can control. I couldn't give a monkeys left butt cheek if people get unwanted messages. They need to filter and make the first move. You make fab. Fab doesn't make you. When you understand that you will understand that ultimately all the grief you perceive that people get, is brought upon themselves. |

I get annoyed more by blokes who think they know what makes the site better for others.
It takes me less than a second to ignore an unwanted message. No, I won't pay more for some obscure function that makes you feel superior. |

I cannot see how the actions of others affect your chances/experiences on here. Most women on here do realise not all men are the same and in my opinion, these types you are describing do the genuine guys a favour by making them stand out even more. |

I don't think the site is that full of them. They are easily ignored/blocked anyway.
Crap profiles do not spoil it for the rest of you. If a guy can't stand out in a sea of crap then he's nothing special either |

there have been a few of these posts about somehow 'lesser males' lately.
not sure what it is blokes hope to achieve by trying to shit on vast swathes of their peer group.
get on with your own fab life and leave others to theirs instead of trying to separate yourself into some elite class just because you think your somehow better just because you can bung a few sentences together.

That's what profiles are for and if the person messages and chooses to ignore what is on the profile (example: please send face picture with first message) then that's what the block button is for, yes it's a bit of a hassle but it's simple, yet 100% effective!!
We still get copy and paste kind of messages from people despite our profile what we are here for, we have a standard reply back, they never message us back and no need to block and since we blocked single males we hardly get messages which works for us xx |

Creating a premium section is unlikely to make a difference. In fact it may make some even more entitled.
We've been on premium sites and it hasn't been a better experience.
Possibly similar to how some people behave badly in clubs as they think as they've paid £50 for entry, it guarantees sex. |

Some time ago I wrote a very long blog post on A.N.OtherFetishSite about how paying more money makes single men subconsciously feel more entitled than the women and couples that attend. It would be exactly the same for a higher cost premium membership (I wish that profiles weren't marked at all because they'd paid on this site).
But like the famous beer company say - it's 'reassuringly expensive'. |

Can see your point but why should people have to pay more for that? Many people already support the site and if this is what people want then the site should be able to sort it without people paying more.. as you said the systems are open to abuse, would you want to pay more to find that things didn't really change? |

You can already filter out unverified users. And I think this is available for all.
Imho though, I feel it's polite to pay, just as a way of saying "thank you" to the site owners.

I agree. It's how it is and that's how I like it so I'm willing to pay to keep it as it is apart from having a county search criteria. Even if there was a 'premium' section I wouldn't go in it anyway because it would be chock full of knob head men moaning they can't get a meet even though they've paid. |

Wow really
That's not the "reason""
Yeah? What's your opinion then? Read the forums and see all the whingers - you think paying changes anything? I think not. The site is good as it is. If people don't use it effectively then that's their social Darwinism. |

At first glance it sounds possibly nice but the site partly is fantastic because of the volume of people here, including some dross.
No effort users are easy to spot and filter out by observation. Non verified users can be filtered out by our personal settings.
I'd keep it as it is and increase user education. |
