10 reasons why Jaffa cakes are biscuits
1. You find them in the biscuit aisle
Feel free to peruse the cakes section in your local supermarket all you like – you’re going to come up empty-handed.
The chocolate orange delights are hanging out with the rest of their biscuit pals.
2. You can’t just have one
When was the last time you ate an entire cake? Okay, fair enough.
But when was the last time you ate an entire cake and then immediately ate another entire cake? In two bites?
Clue: if you can eat 10 samples of something in one sitting, it’s not a cake.
3. You can bite them into your favourite shapes
To the biscuit connoisseur, teeth aren’t for eating; they are for sculpting works of art.
The intricate scraping and nibbling that goes into ridding a Penguin of its top layer or peeling the chocolate from a Kit Kat takes years to master.
And although there are only three shapes you can make with a Jaffa Cake (full moon, half moon and total eclipse), at least it is a malleable entity.
Faced with a massive cake, however, the power in your teeth and tongue to create culinary wonders is neutered.
4. They are round
While biscuits may morph into squares and rectangles, this is only the case for the ones you find at the bottom of the barrel when you go visit your granny.
Custard creams and Bourbons, I’m looking at you.
The really great biscuits come in a circle. Like the Jaffa.
5. You don’t give them to people on their birthday
Try sticking 30 candles in a Jaffa Cake. It’s not possible.
6. They are eaten by footballers
Jaffa Cakes have long been a half-time staple for football players, and the England squad even brought a van’s worth of packets to the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea.
Fat lot of good it did them, mind.
Anyway, footballers are professional athletes, and professional athletes don’t eat cakes. They eat biscuits.
7. You can stack them
Biscuits are a collective.
They’re like The Pussycat Dolls or the Wu-Tang Clan.
On their own, they can be tasty, but when they’re together with all their mates, they’re awesome.
You cannot put cakes on top of one another in a pile – it just gets messy.
8. You can dunk them
Naysayers moan that a Jaffa Cake cannot be safely deposited in a receptacle containing a mix of tea leaves, water and milk, but how long are they dunking for, 20 minutes?!
It’s fine to dunk a Jaffa in your tea – just be quick about it.
Mmmm… warm orange…
9. They come in a packet
There is only one set of cakes that are packaged together in an ensemble: Mr Kipling’s French Fancies.
10. They live in the biscuit tin
When you come home from the supermarket and take out your packet of Jaffa Cakes, you have two options.
One; eat them all in one go, or two; put them in the biscuit tin. Where they belong. Because they’re biscuits. |

"ynot you certainly thought about this a lot
Haha
It's a shame it's all wrong lol
Even mcvities say they are cakes, and you can't argue with that "
"In the United Kingdom, value added tax is payable on chocolate-covered biscuits, but not on chocolate-covered cakes.[12] McVities defended its classification of Jaffa Cakes as cakes at a VAT tribunal in 1991, against the ruling that Jaffa Cakes were biscuits due to their size and shape, and the fact that they were often eaten in place of biscuits."
So they are only cakes for VAT purposes. For everything else they are biscuits lol xc |

"I take it you are disgusted by the size of them, and not incorrectly disgusted by the fact that you ate the whole packet."
yes the size and eating 12 wasnt that huge a deal - as i said before 2 or 3 used to be plenty |
