This is a serious question 
I asked it in the pub the other day and they all just laughed really nervously. ie: loudly. 
Do non of you football people know this stuff?
If it's no a rule I could be a professional football person and make lots of shoe money a week |

It helps if you know a little something about the subject, I don't follow the football as it's a total jawnfest for me so I never get involved with football related discussions. |

I knew they weren't playing tonight so looked to see what it was all about, I can't talk football, as I don't know who plays for who and wouldn't recognise a professional football player if he knocked at my front door. |

Oversize gloves might make a useful barricade but it would make picking the ball up nigh on impossible, also potential contact with opposition players would lead to endless foul play and penalties, hence why it's never been done! |

would be akin to basket ball players wearing platform sneakers to lift themselves beyond the oppositions reach! Sound in theory but the lack of mobility would be more than counterproductive. |

There must be a balance between the two though?
Something really big. Perhaps like a net with a supporting frame? And small enough so he can pick the ball up too?
I can't believe this hasn't been explored in detail before.
You all spend so long discussing what positions you'd like to get into with your favourite players but never something ground breaking like this |
