Im dyslexic,diagnosed aged 8, throughout my whole life ive had to put up with bullshit from pedantic people who get on there high hourse about, fucking spelling and grammar,they also presume im thick because I cant spell, if I was writing this without the help of technology it would be pritty unreadable.I cant spell I know that, the same as some people cant cook or cant run a marathon, everyone is different. I would suggest people who try to belittle others because they cant spell, think about what they "cant" do, can these people, do macanics? Be a brain surgeon? Play an instrument?? and yes ive been on here on and off for nearly 5 years and have seen the "pedants thread" over and over just chill and get over it

if you had read what I wrote in the first instance, about people with dyslexia and apologised then, that would have saved at least 2 thirds of the thread being posted on...

if you want to have discussions, try using open questions (that's questions that require an answer) rather than statements

I am dyslexic and speling is not easy at the best off times. And wen im tiyourd it gets worss. And y is speling sutch a big deil on this site. I thort its a site to meet people for soshalls and fun not a speling compurtishoun.

I don't often actually go as far as complaining about poor spelling but it does annoy me when I see it. I just use it as another filter. No the site is not a spelling test but I need an intellectual connection with someone I'm going to meet and use of language semi correctly is a shorthand way of guessing that.

I'm not sure that good spelling is an indicator of intelligence. Maybe the contents of what is written rather than the technical accuracy provides a more accurate indication.

Everyone has pet peeves, some people may been dyslexic, some may be lazy, some may have never bothered with school; various reasons for their spelling... Who knows, other than the person that typed it.

But this is a pet peeve for many, you just ignore those that are of no interest to you, whether spelling may be something to deter you or not

I hate poor spelling and grammar too, but threads like this are always divisive. People like me will agree with you, while the bad spellers will get angry. And probably claim dyslexia, or at least fat fingers.

I say most people have little excuse other than laziness - as I typed this whole post it was littered with errors but I paid attention to my phone's built in automatic spell checker and now it reads like a dream

That was the only time my kid's weren't allowed to talk when they were little,it was torture for them being quiet for 20 minutes or so whilst it was on
