Even in a private message if you mention certain websites they block the message, I'm curious to why we are restricted to what we say on this site? what does everybody else think? |

it'll be to stop spammers. and it works really well so although i would like to discuss other sites i don't mind not being able to if it means i don't get spammed.

Can you not? I've frequently mentioned other shops and how their products are cheaper or more expensive.
I very rarely use the bag representing that shop. |

Of course you can, the checkout operators mention other supermarkets when telling you of price comparisons. |

Their website their choices...
If you're not happy with their decision.. setup your own website and see what rules you'll apply |

It's arbitrary, and unnecessary as posts are monitored in an individual basis. It seems that some posters are reported through spite and given a temporary ban for no other reason than that. |

Because they don't want people signing up just to promote their websites. It would become tedious if you kept getting spam from gorgeous young women, with their websites attached. |

Yes really, it happens all the time. Other supermarkets do the same with their own promotions.
I doubt that they lose much because they only make comparisons with the likes of ASDA and Sainsbury's etc. They do not go head to head with Lidl or Aldi on price.

I don't know if that goes on, if folk have reported me I'm unaware of it,
All I'd say is...If a site has its rules that state you cannot do something and folk don't agree with the way that site operates and police's those rules ..There's nothing to stop those folk setting up their own website and applying their own rules to that site.. |

If it were sites directly in competition, I would agree with the rule. But when it's applied to sites that are totally unrelated to sex or swinging, for instance IT, then it appears spiteful.
We are here because fab provides us with what we're after. But it doesn't mean we have to be happy with its entirety. And yes, I realise it's not a democracy. There are many things that would prevent people from setting up their own sites, and you've have to be pretty naive to not realise that. |

Put it this way. How would you feel if a woman compared you unfavorably to another guy on this site on her profile page.....?

Also it saves Fab a lot of trouble if someone were to name a site and libel it. |

We all air our frustrations annoyances in the forums .. there are things that annoy me, I often vent them here.
I know it's not as easy as my saying setup your own site.. if it vexed me enough I might ... Well I might leave in a huff vowing to ...then probably return after figuring out how much ???? |

You just have to accept that the people who run this site gave rules and they impliment them as and when they see fit. And yes that does mean that the same rules don't apply to everyone. So yes you can mention websites just don't put wwww anywhere near it and no .co.uk or .com or .net or .anything! |

I think it is their site, their rules.
If I don't like it then I am free to go elsewhere. |

I would assume the owners don't want people using the site, which is free, to advertise their own business.
Or, want people directed to spammy sites.
This isn't Facebook. |

With the sites/forums I've used that allow links to be posted there's a very high level of moderation - lots of moderators working 24/7. Fab simply doesn't have that resource. So understandably they have to apply a blanket ban. It's frustrating but I can see the reasoning behind it. |

I really don't think anything about it, but if I was unduly upset by the rules I'd most likely leave the site and join the one that I wanted to talk about.

Admin understand the site's goals, as well as experience of users, better than any of us as users. If they're aware of certain patterns of behaviour that are not conducive to smooth and ideal operation of Fab, then they are right imo, to integrate restrictions that prevent such problems.
If the site was my own, I certainly would prevent competitive sites being promoted, unlawful of harmful behaviour from being initiated and many other things. Fab management know the bigger picture and some trust in them to continue providing us with a great experience is well founded. |

Their site, their rules.
It does help keep the users free from Spammers but like everything there are ways around it. If you really want to discuss another site with another user tell them in a text, or a KIK message.
I'm ok with the fact that Fab have rules. They have them for good reason, not to simply tick it's users off. Besides, it's still the best free site around. |

You don't get a ban because someone reported you. You would get a ban because you typed something that was against rules. |

Last site I was on used automatic filters to pick up any potential use of telephone numbers, website urls, ip addresses and email addresses..
It ruined the blogs completely, posts being removed with no rules being broken, posts being made unreadable by "***" being pasted over suspect text..
The restrictions here seem very sedate in comparison.. |

A link to a Microsoft help page to help someone out. Right. I'll remember not to try to help anyone else. |

I've given links for websites of where I bought stockings and suspenders belts and it wasn't the one linked with the site,
It is a bit unfair if you can't let people know of more appropriate sites for what they are looking for. They shouldn't be seen as threatening more as widening their knowledge and experience.
