Is anyone else really put off by people whose profiles/status updates are riddled with spelling mistakes?
In my opinion, it doesn't reflect well on you. If you can't be bothered to proof-read, it suggests a lack of effort. |

Can't we just respect the fact that different people have different skill sets and have done; OP thank you for telling us what puts you off; but really?
I guess what puts me off is negative people; either in forum posts or status messages; people that cannot or will not accept that fabswingers is a primordial soup of people of all backgrounds; academic attainment and ability.
My Phd mentor had dyslexia, couldn't spell particularly well, and was hot... would I have spent an evening in entangled passion

Unless they put it on their profile, how would you know? Sorry I just don't understand your point; "people that don't proof read etc. etc." should we put all out faults/conditions/issues in our profiles so that people can form a judgement...
...NOT having a go OP, probably sounds like it, I have a tendency for that (thats one of my many faults).. but what you ask for, cannot be found unless people explicitly state, "by the way dyslexic, just look at my foof and make a decision" |

Common sense to me suggests that despite the spelling errors , there may be a very shaggable person behind the keyboard or phone ,
So no , it doesn't put me off at all . |

How do you come to the conclusion that I see them as 'lesser people who aren't worth fucking'?
I said that I find poor spelling 'off-putting' because the majority of the time, the people concerned are sending me one-liners like 'wanna suck my cok?' or 'hi m8. Do you want to fuk?'
Maybe that doesn't annoy you, but I find it frustrating... |

Then filter the offending sub-set of peeps that do this (in your described example this would be guys I am guessing); instigate messaging with people that appeal to you and well... win...

Yes, written communication is important to me. There can be a long build up to some of my meets due to logistics, and I don't talk on the phone or go on cam, so we will be contacting each other by message or text in the run up. Really bad spelling etc grates on me, I find it difficult to read, those people generally don't get me or my sense of humour either, and I don't particularly care if it's due to laziness or dyslexia.
If I really struggled with written communication I'd find another avenue that played more to my strengths like socials or clubs. |

Everyone has their standards op and if grammar is important to you then that's cool but at least have an open mind and give people the benefit of the doubt .I often make spelling mistakes sometimes its the phone.altering words I have typed and sometimes it's me going so fast the phone can't keep up and I'm so engrossed I don't check what I have sent |

Spelling mistakes grate on me. Just the way I am and I can't help that. Spelling doesn't put me off meeting people though. I like people for who they are.
I respect people's preferences and if they don't want to meet for bad spelling or bad teeth or ginger hair or height or whatever that's cool. |

Apologies for misinterpreting your comment.
Perhaps, on my part, I should have included references to the Equality Act 2010 in the OP, so as to make it clear and transparent that I was excluding those with SLD or other relevant conditions. |

I said this earlier on the other thread.
It's a personal preference for me. I need the really well crafted flirty banter, written very eloquently, as it's a huge turn on for me.
Other women will reject guys based on their height, which I find really odd and a bit judgy.
So reject based on who you want to meet and who you don't. But as with everything, there's no one type that everyone goes for. |

Ahhh I just see it as a tool to disregard. Just another person who who doesn't fit my preference. I'm the same with text speak. Not a fan of that either. I don't get annoyed by it though. I'm more indifferent, and not interested in conversing any further with that person. I like chatting too much, and don't want to get distracted by endless spelling mistakes . |

"Can't we just respect the fact that different people have different skill sets and have done; OP thank you for telling us what puts you off; but really?
I guess what puts me off is negative people; either in forum posts or status messages; people that cannot or will not accept that fabswingers is a primordial soup of people of all backgrounds; academic attainment and ability.
My Phd mentor had dyslexia, couldn't spell particularly well, and was hot... would I have spent an evening in entangled passion
This is a swinging site. isn't it? I mean, I haven't joined fabspelling by mistake (again)
I would have thought that it goes without saying that I was speaking with the exemption of those who suffer from Dyslexia or similar SLDs..."
How do you know who is dyslexic and who isn't? Is your first question 'are you dyslexic or just rubbish at spelling?' |

Always dangerous to play the grammar/spelling police then have errors in your own profile.
If you're looking it's the repetition of the indefinite article in the first sentence after the salutation.
Hoist by your own petard methinks? |

That's a little excessive. He clearly said "riddled with spelling mistakes". We all make the odd mistake here and there but there's a huge difference between that and something you have to read five times to work out what the fuck they are talking about. I really don't have the patience for that, and if people think I'm a snob/judgemental/missing out by not taking it further then so be it. |

I could overlook a a but an excessive, unnecessary misuse of quotation marks for no apparent reason .......... well ...... I just shudder to think how the world will decline because of them........ |

He actually also said;
"If you can't be bothered to proof-read, it suggests a lack of effort.""
Well I only skimmed his profile so I'm sure there's something incorrect there which you'll enlighten us all about, but it was quite obvious to me the kind of profiles and messages he is talking about.
It still baffles me that people who have so much difficulty with written communication choose the internet, where they are completely reliant on the written word, as their means of meeting people. |

"Is anyone else really put off by people whose profiles/status updates are riddled with spelling mistakes?
In my opinion, it doesn't reflect well on you. If you can't be bothered to proof-read, it suggests a lack of effort." For some folk it is an effort. doesnt bother me in the slightest. |

I am wondering if this is a reason for apparent timewasters and no shows??
When they write "You know I will be there because I am keen to cum!" they really meant to type....
" You! NO I won't be there because I am in Kent with my mum." and autocorrect has altered it?
Poor lambs! They get so much stick because their English is not up to scratch. |
