An Ali is a predictive typo lol I don't know what a Ali is either!!! Backwards on a travellator lmfao that would be a classic to witness!!! |

Oh er we're there over the New Year!..skiing in general is flipping expensive especially now with the poor exchange rate. Beware ski pass and lift costs as well as hire costs and of course off piste necessities ..we found St Anton to be good value and a fun resort moreso than Courcheval which is full of Russians unfortunately |

"Was sooo embarrassed!! Got to the top with one ski and walked down the mountain! Immediately took my kit back and headed to the bar! "
Most resorts have ditched the old style drag lifts in favour of a gondola.
Poor etiquette, no one picking up your lost ski for you though....it's just common decency to help a fellow fallen skier out |

"If you want cheap....bansko
If you want luxury....banff.
Crystal ski will do packages including lift passes, flights and accommodation. "
Eastern Europe and the pyrenees are offering the best deals at the moment
But if you're going to Porte de Soleil get your lift pass in a Swiss resort as it'll be £60 cheaper due to Swiss Franc/ € exchange rates |

Snow wise you should be fine. The Bulgarians have a bank holiday between 5-7th so the lines will be a bit busier |

I've been to Andorra, Austria, France and Italy, and all of them have had great runs and apres ski. Only been let down by the snowfall once and that was in Andorra.
I've heard Bulgaria is the cheapest, but not much going on there!
Canada and Japan are meant to be the best, but this is reflected in the price!
If you're a rookie and need lessons then pretty much all the places that i've been have had good ski schools.
Try and avoid School Holidays as its dearer and busier. |

Bansko was probably my least liked ski resort!
I found there was massive queues when we got to the gondola then they had 2/3 chairlift options at the top which one was leading straight to a black. Fine for myself but was with less advanced skiiers so ended up queuing ages for the others. Cheap but I found good was soldeu in Andorra which had good ski school apparently too! |

I've skied both Pamporovo and Borovets, and they're good for beginners and improvers.
You're better off in Andorra for skiing variation. Though the resorts themselves are pretty poor
If the £/$ wasn't so bad I'd suggest New England |

I'd recommend Val Thorens.
Why? It's linked to the whole of the 3 vallies, it the cheapest resort with the best nightlife. Because its at the highest altitude the quality of the snow is likely to be better particularly around Easter. If the wind picks up the gondola will still run when the chairs/cable cars stop.
As a beginner I assume you'll be having lessons each morning, the slopes nearer the town are gently sloping green and blue runs.
Why would I avoid it? I wouldn't really but some would say it has a slightly more rough an ready attitude than dripping in money corchevel, and there isn't a deal to do if you decide you don't like skiing, but that's about it.
If money is a consideration I say Bulgaria. Particularly Bansko, awesomely cheap food and drink in the evening. The queues are fine as long as you avoid the holidays and the motorway hugely reduces the transfer time.
A leftfield choice for beginners would be Aviemore in the Cairngorms. Cracking little town, stunningly beautiful setting, loads going on and practically deserted midweek. Just check the weather before you go!!! |

March is the perfect month. Bansko can have snow when other European resorts haven't.
It's cheap eating, drinking and après ski.
See you there..

There are 2 chairlifts when you reach the ski zone and several drag, button and conveyor lifts in the kids and beginners areas.
lessons on the first day or 2 take place in this area, no need to go on the chairlifts.
If you book a 5day lesson package, the instructors will be with you on the chairlifts, you'll quickly progress to intermediate.
Have a look on trip advisor.com for resort advice on all the suggestions. |

What month are you planning to travel? If you're going early / late season you need to really look for high ski resorts otherwise the snow could be crap or non existent.

I've always wanted to go to Banff " I was lucky enough to learn to ski there, on Mt Norquay
The resort is fantastic, especially the Banff Springs hotel
You get caribou and moose in and around the town
But be prepared for the bus rides to the ski areas |

Mt Norquay was my local ski hill. I was lucky enough to be born and grow up there. It gets icey though from the wind.
Lake Louise is beautiful and the back country bowls are pretty awesome.
Sun shine village and goats eye mountain are my personal favourites though. |
