In this day and age isn't it all a bit old fashioned ? When getting married go to Mrs so and so. Shouldn't we all just be Ms so as not to define marital status as such? I'm Miss but still get called Mrs in the doctors and hospital etc.
And why is post to Mr and Mrs (insert male's initials) surname. It's very Victorian but still best practice.
Men only have master then Mr. |

For myself I'm quite happy to be Mrs Husband-Surname because I'm an equal in our relationship however I can understand the wider implications of women being defined by marital status and their husband or father's surname.
A lot of our children's friends who are single mother's give their children the fathers surname so I can't see it changing anytime soon. |

I'm a Mrs and although divorced I still use and like Mrs.
My sister, who is also divorced remains Mrs, whilst my other sister, blissfully married for 25 years has never been Mrs, prefers Miss and never taken her husband's name.
My daughters are all Mrs.

I've never really thought about this, and after thinking about it I decided I'd spent far to long thinking about something that is not that important. I'm a Mrs and quite like it, when I was a miss I quite liked that too. If I got divorced I would decide then whether it was necessary for a tile change. The tilted does not define me, people make their own judgements regardless ? |

See with me when we split, the first thing I did reclaim my name. Not divorced but I did by deed poll so I could change bank account and legal documents. Felt like that was one less bit of control he didn't have over me by having MY name back and not using his.
I only feel a bit weird when kids see post with my name on. They don't remember us being together and make sense of us having different names because I told them you have your daddy's name which is why mines different, so mines the same as their grandads |

"Never been married so have always been a 'Miss' though I must admit in this day and age, I shouldn't have to define myself with a marital status when men don't "
I might start ticking 'Mr'. |

Thought it was 2 year separation, or has this changed. Done my own divorce for £135, this was 14 years ago though. |

I personally don t see the reason why there has to be a distinction between Mrs, Ms and Miss - as there is not one for the gents. Serves no purpose in my opinion and (some) other countries have long abolished it.
I am a Ms - everytime |

Ms just sounds stupid though. I like being called Mrs it doesnt matter to me much, although when i was younger i didnt agree with women having to change their surname to their husbands surname but i was glad to because i couldnt stand mine. |

All options available are a load of bollocks. More so today than ever before, seeing that women's surnames don't automatically change upon marriage (rightly so). I am happily married but kept my maiden name, it's not like I need more bureaucracy in my life. So I can either use Mrs Husbandsurname unofficially out of social convention, or Ms Fathersurname.
Yes, Ms sounds stupid cos it is hard to pronounce. How do you even pronounce Mx? How patronising is it to be called a Miss when you're middle-aged? What does it mean to be called Mrs when your surname is not your husband's? Or if it is but you're divorced? Talking about some utterly horrific honorifics... |

I'm Ms.
I didn't take Marc's name when we got married and so our last names are different. In that context, to me, Mrs. isn't really correct.
I actually find that people generally address me as Ms. without needing to be told. On rare occasions people who don't know us will refer to me by Marc's last name but I just correct them nicely. |

I've been struggling over this since splitting from my husband and now the impending divorce on the horizon. My ex mother in law has kept Mrs even though she divorced her husband over 20 years ago, I feel it's a bit like 'I'm taking your house and your name and I'm still going to parade around with the mrs part even though I didn't want to be married to you' (that's just me though)
Do I become a ms, miss or stay as mrs (which I don't want), do I change my surname back to my maiden name and be a miss?! I don't know!! Help me obi one fab!!

You can divorce after two but you both Have to sign the application. after 5 I don't need his. Regardless of these stupid ads for a quickie divorce for 40 quid, you still have to pay the large court fees to lodge the paperwork at court. |

I wouldn't change my surname back as then my children would be different to me,if I didn't have them I would even though I prefer his surname . Miss says you've never been married and I'm divorced so don't want to still use Mrs,so Ms it is for me |

I never met anyone who struggled to pronounce Ms.
And the point of Mx is to remove the ownership/sexist/assumed roles that go with a title. An option to opt out of being classed. Ms was supposed to do that for women. |

Ms just makes me think of an uptight feminist for some reason find it kind of amusing. Theres nothing wrong with being called Miss in my opinion, my much older sister never married and if someone calls her Mrs then she just says no, its Miss. |

I went from being mrs (ex husbands name) to being mrs (husbands name), I missed out on being a ms.
That being said, it was only six weeks from my divorce being finalised to marrying hubby so it did seem rather pointless changing everything.
I also haven't changed my passport yet. Call me a tightwad but I refused to pay 80 quid for a new ten year passport with my new name on when I had 8 years left on the old one |

"A friend of ours was asked "Miss, Mrs, Ms"...
She answered "actually its Dr"
does that mean she cant be called miss or mrs."
Generally "dr" is used as a priority. It is used in preference to normal titles. |

Ms.
If anyone asks me if it's is Mrs or Miss, I ask can you tell by a man's marital status from his title, and is it any of your business? The answer is generally no.
Despite being told this, some have the cheek to write down Miss because they assume women have to wear a ring to signify that they are married.
It annoys me.
I remember ordering a sim card from Libara. Apparently I HAD to choose a title from this range. It was:
Mr
Dr
Rev
Mrs
I was seriously pissed off. I ordered the sim card alright. The name I gave?
MR JUDAS ISCARRIOT
Made them rack up the money for marketing and postage and then when it got to me, I just chucked it in the bin. Yeah, I was having a stroppy moment at the keyboard. I'll admit it. Maybe I shouldve stepped away from the keyboard at the time... |

I'm a Ms on my bank cards and driving licence and will be on my passport.
Don't see why we have to declare whether we are single/divorced/widowed/separated.
Surely single is your status regardless of reason. |
