Why is it called Swinging?

A silly question maybe? But I've been sat on this swing for ages and haven't swung once, any chance of a push in the right direction

As a term for couples it makes sense. Not so for singles but it's been assumed as a generic term for casual sex with multiple partners by everyone now.

I think I'd make a brilliant swinger eventually the thing that interests me most apart from the sex is the social aspect it's a whole new world I have stumbled across and at 37 years old I'm looking forward to explore
