Forget cake for a minute.

Has anyone here ever been on one of these?

(*Apparently* Mrs ddc has decided that finding 25 pairs of twins for my birthday is too hard, so is considering taking me to one of these meets instead)

Small dinner, followed by 7 puddings

Mr ddc

I've seen a program about the pudding club judging which pudding they think is best. I have no idea how they can eat so many puddings in one evening?

That's how we always do it. Everyone brings a little something and you just take a sample of whatever takes your fancy. We didn't vote for my birthday (the cake would have won).

A bit of recipe swapping happens and we provide drinks and a few savoury things to take the edge off the sweet things if people need that.

Maybe Fab could book a whole evening and we could have a pudding social

(although I doubt there'd be much sex after 7 puddings )

People all seem to manage with the very full buffet at some club/parties.

If we organised a Fab one then we'd either end up with too many of one type of pudding that most people don't want and everyone scrabble for the one pudding everyone wants to taste.

That's not a pudding!

I thought you'd say most people prefer a chocolate one, whereas it's the ginger ones that tend to get left, as we all know.

Especially when it's a ginger spotted dick

(Just to clarify: freckles )

I have been to the aforementioned establishment. It was great fun, with all the puddings being brought in one by one with great ceremony. Eat very little first course, and pace yourself. Not many got to the seventh pudding. I did! You will have a great time, just don't expect much action when you finally retire to bed as you will be very full! I wonder if you will get the Spotted Dick room...

Haven't heard about this before but sounds like tea at my nans when I was a kid.

She was the original Mary Berry.... tea normally consisted of a home made sausage roll followed by 6-7 courses of desert.

If she knew we were coming she'd be baking for two days beforehand!

Miss my nan

I love a challenge We went on a river-cruise through Russia a few years ago, by the 3rd day the waitresses knew to ask "which pudding would you like first?" rather than "would you like a dessert?"

". Not many got to the seventh pudding."

There really weren't , some dropped out after 3

Anyway, challenge completed. We both managed them all, and had seconds of one. I had to keep asking for larger portions of them all too.

More impressively we both managed breakfast too (though we had to build up an appetite by burning off some nervous energy doing a 'local landmark' pic )
