"no way no matter how much money i had would i spend that on any family member...especially if they had asked for it"
In fairness it wasn't like a wedding list or, as I heard on Woman's Hour this morning, a children's party gift list but, after a few sherbets over lunch, there's no question I was steered to the Prada/ Gucci/ Anya Hindmarch corner of Frasers. |

"When did the kind of bag 19 year old nieces want for their birthday take the skin of a whole cow and cost over £1,000?"
no offence intended but its ironic how apt the term itself is
a 1000 buck handbag in the arms of a very shallow cow
funny how life works its way around |

Em hang on here, what on earth has it got to do with any of us what someone spends on their family. And to call other people's family names, ie; a very shallow cow is really bad. Its not coming out of our pocket so why we bothered.
I used to think that expensive handbags were a waste of money but I would rather have one really good handbag than loads of cheap ones that dont last 5 minutes. I dont have the kind of money to spend £1000 on a handbag but I save up my pennies each year and buy one when I go on holiday to New York. My last handbag was £300 from Armani and that was just over a year ago, I use it every day and theres not a mark on it, its as new. I do have a lot of folders that I carry in my work bag, so handles do tend to break, but not this one. So in the long run its worth it.
I dont have many designer items, cant get into the clothes, have 2 pairs of designer shoes, but I do like a nice work handbag and if you save up and treat yourself occasionally, its not a bad thing. I work for my money |

just dont see the point of spending 1000 quid on a handbag. as im now in my 30's i tend to think do i need it or am i being silly.............
i cant but help think that materialistic things tend to be a look at me and my labels .......and the folk like that who i know also have several credit cards up to the max
perhaps your niece was just testing to see if you really would pass the test and be her favourite uncle
ps if you absolutely wouldnt miss the grand then go ahead and make her day. they are only young once |
