Not proud of myself or happy about it in the slightest but on my way home from pub I was confronted by some prick dressed as a clown. If he thought I was going to run he got a shock when I decked him.

Im not normally an aggressive person and like I say I'm not proud of myself at all but I don't see trying to scare people as a joke at all.

What if someone does try to run and gets hit by a car or hurt in anyway would they try and help or disappear into the night like the morons they are!!

Sorry for the rant just this has pissed off and spoilt my vibe

Agreed, if it's a split second decision, I'm not going to think ah it's a clown, my instinct will be to defend myself from someone who has made a conscious effort to invade my personal space in order to generate a reaction.

That's the problem, innit? They are trying, for effect to be initimidating right from the off. They are using that element of uncertainty as to what a person who has gone out of their way to both provoke people and cover their face (often whilst carrying a weapon) will do, hoping people will run. That's forcing you to make a fight or flight decision right from the off....

Under no circumstance are we to serve anyone disguised as a clown, and they are not allowed to buy petrol.

This is to prevent deception, fraud, and theft.

I am astonished at how naive, unaware and lacking in knowledge of recent events you are. Let's put it this way: If you and I were out together one night and someone came at me or you like that wearing a mask and you don't smack him one, I would smack him! And your night wouldn't be much fun either after that! Sorry but you need to open your eyes quickly.

No. It doesn't matter if he friends with him or not. The idiot in the clown mask should have factored that in when he decided to get in the OPs face! The OP didn't say his friends got involved! And he is right to say he is entitled to a peaceful night out with his mates and yes ESPECIALLY after defending our country! He has my vote everytime! He didn't hurt him seriously. Local papers are lapping it up to because they have fuck all else to report about.

It's basically a couple of 15 year olds here and there walking round in clown masks.

It's going on but I reckon it's falling somewhat short what the media are hyping it as.

No doubt every pubs resident bar prop will have beaten several up on their way home every night this week "

You know what? If people still want to go out in clown's masks in the full knowledge of what has been happening, then quite frankly they deserve what they get! It started in America and people have been assaulted by such idiots in these masks who randomly chase people and terrify them. I already mentioned a 14 year old who was sexually assaulted by someone in a clowns mask. So I have no sympathy for anyone who gets a slap, because they STILL think it's funny to chase people wearing a clown's mask in light of recent events.

If someone comes out of the darkness in a threatening manner they expect to be confronted with reasonable force so a punch is pretty reasonable.

Groups are now hunting clowns in some towns for a laugh so this dressing as a "clown" prank will seriously backfire on them as people become more frightened.

Listen everyone Hulltiger was very lucky not to have suffered a serious injury & was lucky enough to be in a position to defend himself, this Clown could have picked on someone else who couldn't!

Just saying 14 years ago this Dec my partner of 14 years was walking home from charity pool match about 10mins walk from where we live minding his own business, when a random guy came out of nowhere & started to chase him, as I was later told he was seen running for his life & backtracked to go back in the pub for help, only to slip or trip under the wheels of a waggon & trailer.

The point im trying to make is that regarding these clowns if you are in a position to defend yourself without weapons then I agree.

Sorry for getting on my soapbox about this but I feel so strongly about this

I can't believe some people condone intimidation.

They go out to intimidate. Some to actually commit crimes.

Halloween is half a month away.

This time they intimidated someone who reacted to fight.

But I'm sure those supporting intimidation tactics are just and righteous people.

Of course they ignore the rapes and assaults and harassment.

If you want to dress up for Halloween, wait till the 31St

As for it being kids just mucking about, sorry but intimidation is not mucking about its a crime.

"Yeah really.. I'm a peaceful guy. I served my country on two tours and think I've earned my time to chill out and enjoy my life. I don't expect to come face to face with some dressed up fool on my way home from a good night with my mates

So you just randomly assaulted someone?

Self defence? I'd twat one of them if they tried it on me.

Jumped out at you in fancy dress?

That entitles you to hit a stranger?

Really?"

Funny you proudly state you enjoy a cruel side. I would rather have someone prptect themselves rather than meat someone who is cruel...cruelty is despicable

"What's wrong with wearing clown outfits

Me and mates 5 years ago went out on a night out all dressed as clowns - we got loads of people coming up to us and it was cracking

I also wore one for a couple of years at work for Halloween and to London let's say it was good fun

If you read the news or yours kids aged 8 and 10 coming home scared, because they been warned at school about the clowns! You would understand!"

My youngest has been in my bed pretty much every night for the last 2 weeks, she is genuinely frightened but all this

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

I'd never expect to see someone's instinctive, subconscious, uncontrollable, hardwired "fight or flight" response criticised.

That's like asking people to control their spleen...

For the record, I think you're allowed to kick them up the arse so long as your trousers fall down everytime you swing your leg, and one of your mates sounds an old-fashioned car horn each time your foot connects.

Police are recommending people carry custard pies* so that they can protect themselves from this sort of outrage...

...Up on the Downs

Its just what they call in Hull 'Handbags at dawn'...

Seriously though OP, in the light of what's going on anyone jumping out at people dressed as a clown right now has malicious intent and deserves to be decked fitst and asked questions later, and I'm glad the guys I am most likely to be out on the street with late at night are capable of doing the same.

London and France

Anyone prancing about as a clown and actually trying to frighten people is committing assault

I'm normally a peaceful type and have never started anything in my life.

However as we have youngish children in the family who are extremely disturbed by the current craze I have a feeling that were I to be confronted in the slightest threatening way I would lash out too.

The ignorance of some of the previous posters about the situation clearly shows they're out of touch and we shouldn't feed them by even reacting?

Young children are being frightened and this is not right!

(Mr)

Haven't read this, but the clown thing spiralled from viral marketing for the new IT movie. Other idiots started copying, the news started reporting it. Now worldwide idiots have started copying.

My initial reaction would be to deck the cunt too. What's he gonna do? Go to the police?

"I was dressed as a clown and trying to scare people" .. Jog on dickhead.

Next clown I see is getting a beating, kids party or not.

"Hi,

You sir, have come to the right place. Please take a seat and someone will be over shortly to take your order - todays special is a soup of disapproval with a side of indignation.

Brighton - even Hove!

It's the end of the clown thread....the makeup is off and they return to their lonely, sad caravan to gaze at posters of previous fame. He lights the gas oven......
