Just took dog tother Park for a walk. Saw loads of conkers lying around, made me think of when I used to go collecting them. Would spend hours trying to knock them off the trees. Kids to busy with pokemon and xboxs I bet.
So what else you guys not seen for a while? |

Conkers... I remember a number of years ago how many councils cut down conker trees, particularly those near schoold, roads and car parks because the conkers presented health and safety risks.
I'm sure this lead to the end of conkering more than pokemon did! |

A good rope swing hanging from a tree in some random place.....
Who needed Pokemon in the 80s when you could shinny up a tree, jump on a swing, and.... usually fall off. |

I saw a dad and son collecting conkers in the park at the weekend. The dad was throwing a brick up into the branches to try and knock them down. The son was under the tree. |

I've been educating my 6-year-old on the art of Conkers. We have loads in the house, to the point that I'm going to make some lanyards to go on the Christmas tree with them. |

Kids playing in the great outdoors.. i used to play kerby in the road..climbing trees..making bridges over ditches..making fires to pretend cook on..building dens for secret clubs. We had a different kind of freedom when we were kids and I am so glad I had that time..it's a shame for the children now. Too many fears of letting them go off on their own at the same age we did.

Conkers were on the news this morning - the gas they give off as they dry out stops moths so you could put a conked in a drawer or wardrobe. |

We had a rope swing going out over a river we dammed. A good few of us took a dip in it when the swing snapped |

It's probably because there isn't many local butchers giving dogs bones anymore and a lot of butchers buy their meat de-boned. My dog still has white shite because he's fed a raw diet with plenty of fresh bones. |

Polystyrene flat pack toy planes, the ones that you'd slot the body n the wings together then fit the wee plastic propeller on the nose.
The fast food version of airfix!
N those daft rubber things with like a timed suction cup on the bottom that when you stuck them on a flat surface they'd sort of unfurl after a few seconds n go flying in the air!
Well that's all I could think of seeing as white dog shit n bush porn have already been mentioned. |

It's also not true.
They may well be banned but it'll be for other reasons... behaviour management (lot's of things banned for that), the mess as the kids won't clean up the smashed conkers, etc. |

When I was young, We'd be out at the woods. In the parks. Out on bike rides... Basically, pretty much staying active. Now, The parks are derelict. You hardly see anyone staying active and out and about. We live in a generation where most friendships today are via a pc or mobile screen. It's a shame. I miss the days when id be out on my bike with all my mates because the internet didn't exist. The good ol social days are soon disappearing. |

An excellent point well made using the medium of technology Lol oh the irony, I think we are all victims of the technological age and the ever growing need for communication to be instant and convenient. As said above life is lived much faster these days and we don't slow down enough to appreciate the simple pleasures. I for one am glad I grew up in the era before advanced technology, where we used the trek around calling for friends and asking if they're playing out ess |
