If you've not seen it before I would thoroughly recommend taking time to look up Hysterical Literature and giving the short videos a view. Do read about the context before watching, and yes -- there is a wand under the table!

I didn't really pay much attention to what they were reading, I was watching their faces and listening to the tone, the breathlessness, the unavoidable gasps and catching of breath in their voices as the wand clearly began to take effect.
I'd personally choose a book or a poem which meant something to me, or was one of my favourites - Bram Stoker's Dracula comes to mind. I couldn't read anything funny, or in a strange dialect, or a kids' book as I'd be in hysterics and under the table long before I was supposed to be

I think you're right Ms G, for me it would have to be a piece that meant something to me - or that someone had chosen who meant something to me - as I'd find the stimulation of that quite important. To be lost in the act, would first need to capture my mind. |
