So off the back of the bros thread really, I started having a listen on you tube and watching a few of my fave 80s vids, Taylor dayne, tell it to my heart, an all time fave, the clothes, the music, yep some really cheesy but nostalgic all the same, so tell us favourite songs, favourite clothes etc, were you a, ra ra skirt and leg warmers kind of girl, or a kappa tracksuit kind of guy, if not what were you wearing? Just a bit of fun, Mrs blue eyes

"In the 80's you say? Well I was a biker back then so mostly wore a black leather jacket, jeans & black Dr Martens. Had long hair halfway down ma back as well, and for several years I had a ZZ Top beard as well

I still got my Lewis leather jacket out on special occasions, like Grease impersonations!

I had a fabulous pink ra-ra skirt, and was a total poster girl for Stefanel and Benetton, very yuppie! . I saved my money from working on a Saturday market to buy a benetton jumper, and I had just enough but then they had a fake sheepskin jacket with a big furry collar, so I bought that instead, I never did get my benetton jumper

Awww, they had some fabulous bright patterened ones, I made mine last for years and years.

I was in a wine bar in Cheltenham once in say '85 and I heard a voice behind me say 'Courcheval 1850, February, 1982!'

Someome recognised me from a skiing holiday 3 years earlier because of my Benetton jumper lol!!! . Pmsl, are you sure it was just your jumper, have you still got your 80s perm "

No I managed to avoid the perm - I went for the Molton Brown hand dried cut!! I was just googling - it was my ambition to own a Missoni jumper, and when my ex brought me one back from a business trip to Italy I didn't like it, never wore the bloody thing lol!!

Didn't hit the teenage years until 91,but remember rocking the grungy skate kid look in 89....baggy long sleeve t shirts n lumberjack shirts n army/combat jeans.

If I was skateboarding I had a pair of cool black converse baseball boots with the rolling stones jagger lips logo embroidered on both ankles.

N when I wasn't skateboarding I'd be rocking the 10 eyelet black DMs with the jeans tucked into them.... cool as fuck man!

Ultimate 80's cheesy tunes...wang chung-dancehall days n Einstein a gogo by whoever the hell sang it!

Spent a fair bit of time in boozers in the early 80's playing space invaders n cleaning up on the bandits

Or if they didn't allow kids I'd be told to hide under the table as we (I) were playing hide n seek with the bar staff n if I hid well enough I'd get a prize of juice n crisps!

Ahh good times indeed....never got served though!

My teenage years in the 80s might have involved stonewashed/bleached denim, mahoosive shoulder pads, an even more mahoosive perm and more electric blue masacra than ever should have been legally sold!

Bloody loved the 80s

Even better times for me if I had to wait outside,I was never bored as long as I had a wee bit wall/fence/lampost to try n climb.

N most of the d*unk auld geezers leaving the boozer would give me anything from 20p to a pound...usually 50p.

I'd often end up with up to a fiver in silver, which makes you a 10p mixture millionaire when you're 5 years old!

. You were clearly more cute than me, I never got feck all off the d*unk lot, closest I got to getting free money was nicking the pop bottles off people's doorsteps and taking them to the chippy and trading them in for 10p oh and doing penny for a guy outside the local shop, oh the sweet money we could make on bommy night

That actually sounds sexy.

I remember having a shell suit at the end of the 80s.

Also have a memory of bopping away to this Charming Man by the Smiths at a family wedding disco in stone washed jeans and feeling very pleased with myself.

Was, and still am, into all things Two Tone/Mod/New Wave for much of the early 80's (left my teens in 85)..so the early 80s were spent in Levi's, sta prest, Ben Sherman's, Fred Perry's (when they didn't cost the earth!) and Harrington's

Musically it was Madness, The Beat, The Specials, The Jam, Secret Affair, Dexys, Blondie, The Undertones etc (all of which are still prominent in my record collection and gig going today)....as they moved on I did too and found bands like The Housemartins, Prefab Sprout and others.

Even my dress sense these days is still informed by that era...will only wear 501's, prefer button down shirts etc...although my musical tastes are far wider now, even though Ms G says I'm stuck in the 80s still!!

I went through loads of phases in the 80's. Mid 80's it was all about Madonna for me, then stuff like Duran Duran, Human League. Then my sisters bf gave me a Jam tape (!) loved them. Blondie, then I discovered The Cult, Cure, Sisters of Mercy etc and dressed all on black with dms etc. It was a great decade

Couple more bands to throw into the mix...

ABC...Lexicon Of Love still rates as one of my favourite albums of all time.

The Style Council...even though their one full gig I went to remains the only gig I sat seated at throughout..had front row at the Albert Hall and Weller was going through his house/hip hop phase and refused to play any of the hits

Ra ra skirt, gypsy skirt, skinny denims, leg warmers, fluorescent socks!

I was in to the Cure, Adam and the Ants, Spear of Destiny, lots of different bands.

Loved the 80's. Even the big hair and the perms.

"Didn't hit the teenage years until 91,but remember rocking the grungy skate kid look in 89....baggy long sleeve t shirts n lumberjack shirts n army/combat jeans.

Ultimate 80's cheesy tunes...wang chung-dancehall days n Einstein a gogo by whoever the hell sang it! . Yeah remember the grungy look, but was trying to sexy then as needed to get served in pubs

Haha

Spent a fair bit of time in boozers in the early 80's playing space invaders n cleaning up on the bandits

Or if they didn't allow kids I'd be told to hide under the table as we (I) were playing hide n seek with the bar staff n if I hid well enough I'd get a prize of juice n crisps!

Ahh good times indeed....never got served though! . There were good times, mind you when we were small we had to sit outside freezing our butts off or sweltering, but yep we got the glass bottle of Coke and kp crisps as a reward for our hours of boredom

Even better times for me if I had to wait outside,I was never bored as long as I had a wee bit wall/fence/lampost to try n climb.

N most of the d*unk auld geezers leaving the boozer would give me anything from 20p to a pound...usually 50p.

I'd often end up with up to a fiver in silver, which makes you a 10p mixture millionaire when you're 5 years old! . You were clearly more cute than me, I never got feck all off the d*unk lot, closest I got to getting free money was nicking the pop bottles off people's doorsteps and taking them to the chippy and trading them in for 10p oh and doing penny for a guy outside the local shop, oh the sweet money we could make on bommy night "

Anything involving bonfires n I'm definitely in!
