Cameras / Mirror lenses ?

Does anyone use a mirror lens on their DSLR camera ?

I'm after a 600 or 800mm lens and the price of a normal optical lens is off the planet but I see that mirror lenses are a lot cheaper. I'd imagine they won't be as good as a high end lens, but apart from the fixed apeture is anyone aware of the downfalls of using such a lens ?

And brand wise - which ones are better than others ?

Bucks

in the old days of film the down side of those lenses were that points of light outside the point of focus came out on the pic as small halo's ...

though do not know if the same phenomena happens with digital cameras

So apart from that, was the image quality comparible to a 'proper' lens ?

Its been years since I used an SLR...

I know that other personal experiences are more comforting... But there is surely a "Which" report out there somewhere...

Good Luck..
