a true gentleman of boxing.
well mannered and always had time to talk to fans.
will always be remembered for stunning Clay with that big punch which should have changed boxing history.

Was in Langans restaurant in London, years ago and he was sat behind me, he stood up, moved his chair and hit me in the face, Didn't knock me out, but how many woman can say they've been punched by him
btw he was soooooo apologetic and sent a bottle of champagne to the table

my dad bumped (literally ) into our enery at covent garden market in 1963 soon after "that" punch .they were both greengrocers and often met afterwards for a bacon sarnie at 4 in the morning...he was a top bloke ... never forgot his roots |
