Apologies if this has already been discussed and raised in the forums!
I notice there is a wide range of body types that ladies class as 'curvy' in their profiles. I know this will come down to how they view their own bodies but I'm interested to see what everyone's (boys and girls) take on it is?
I imagine a curvy body to be a typical hour glass shape, boobs and bum, and perhaps a dress size 12/14?
Before the forum nazi's start I'm not trying to offended anyone it's just a genuine query!
Thanks
HG

before fab my opinion was that voluptuous was curvy, but this was based on other peoples ideas anyway.
now i'd say it's anyone with big boobs and bum.
best thing is to go off pics anyway to see what someone looks like. |

It depends on ratio, height, distribution of fat and genetics. And most importantly self perception. There is no standard for curvy other than the visual. For hourglass there is a specific ratio (I'm not it, my chest circumference is marginally smaller than my hips rather than the other way round but my waist is more than 9 inches smaller than them both). |

Yes I agree with all your points, I image height makes a big difference, you can be 5ft and size 12 and 6ft size 12 and have quite different body shapes

I always think of it as if you saw a silhouette of that person would the lines be straight or curvy.... are there actual curves on their body. So yes larger ladies will naturally have curves (I have more than I would like!) but slimmer ladies can also be curvy |

When I first joined I had my body type listed as ample. But then guys would say I was curvy and not ample and I should list it as such. Even the guys I have met say I am curvy so for that reason alone I changed it to curvy. |

"Curvy to me would indicate bigger boobs, a butt, hips and a bit of a tummy.
I have all the above apart from the boobs so I wouldn't call myself curvy.
So how do you describe your body type? "
My profile says average |

I would class myself as curvy. I do have a bit of a tummy but I go in and out with big boobs and a bum which are noticeably larger than my tummy. Some people have messaged me saying I am not curvy enough, others that I am just fat. Meh. I waiver between curvy and fabulous. |

Self perception as mentioned above is a really good point. Curvy here (Mrs, lol). Totally flat tum, big bum/thighs and small boobs with a bit of a broad back and petite. Been described as 'compact' and personally feel and think 'curvy'.

There's going to be as much female variation in curvy as there is male variation in 'athletic', which can legitimately include everything from Mo Farrah to a Rugby full back. Go by the pics - end of. |

Tricky one. However curvy implies curves, which even the most extreme body type owns a few of. However, in the `fab body size scale`, when you have options of `Ample` and `Large` it has to fit somewhere. I am pretty certain it does not fit like a voluminous cape over whichever size you choose.
The beauty of this is that is really does not make a spot of difference, put recent, warts and all, pics of your body on your profile.
What you see is what you get, whereas whatat we prefer to describe ourselves as is often a little rose tinted. |

I don't think rolls of flab or a saggy stomach can be described as curves.
To be curvy you need a slimmer waist and flattish stomach on a side view with a big bum and boobs.
I called myself ample and was told I should put curvy.
Not with my fat, sagging, side-view stomach. I only have the boobs and bum. |

If you take the body shape list as getting bigger as you go up there is only curvy between average and ample. I've gone with ample because I don't see myself as curvy, because I'm flabby. |

Because no woman hypothetically would select the 'fat bitch' option, even if a lot of men do appreciate women of their size.
Let them have a curvy option, if you discover they actually have more rolls than curves then leave them be, they're doing no harm. |

Rolls imply there's a curvature so they're still curvy, they just curve outward in a different directions
I think you'd be really shocked how many women would actually check the fat box if it were available |

"OP, here's a top tip if you ever want to ask a question about women's body types on Fabs again.
.
.
.
Don't do it!!!
Haha I could ask question about nursery rhymes and certain people would get their knickers in a twist over it
I'm not convinced anyone has their knickers in a twist. They are merely questioning what you're saying. "
Not sure why there was the need to keep questioning him though? In his OP he imagined it would be a size 12/14 & asked for others opinions.

Which would be great if he stuck with that and didn't contradict himself. |

Is it a contradiction or is it that someone else's post has made him think differently?
who knows & tbh who really cares

"Op .. are u saying u don't find bigger girls attractive?
Not all, read my opening question, I ask what's everyone's opinion? I make no statement or judgement on anyone, I only pass comment on what I perceive to be 'curvy'
What makes you think this?
That bull, because if you can comment on what you perceive as curvy you have actually made a judgement on them "

Some just like to change what they are saying to suit public opinion. I care not what you like but have no time for spinelesness. Stand by your convictions ffs. |

And by asking for his input now he'd got other prospectives could have been trying to determine if he was indeed now thinking differently
I thought it was reasonable enough to ask

I am a size 16 , with big boobs , big bum and a bit of tum . I have described my self as curvy on my profile but have been told on a number of occasions that I am just fat |

"It depends on ratio, height, distribution of fat and genetics. And most importantly self perception. There is no standard for curvy other than the visual. For hourglass there is a specific ratio (I'm not it, my chest circumference is marginally smaller than my hips rather than the other way round but my waist is more than 9 inches smaller than them both)."
Whatever your ratio, you look bloody amazing! Xx |

I'd assume something similar to OP about the "curvy" description. Although maybe without the 12/14 restriction. In and out in an hourglass style.
The fab categories are a little odd. I tend to ignore and go for pictures. I'm pretty clear in mine that there is a lot of me.
It's a good question, though.
And yes, a lot of us would tick the "fat" option if it was available! |

I'm curvy. I have bits that go out and bits that go in. I'm also quite slim. As there wasn't a "pretty slim with sticky out roundish bits and squidgy edges" option, I went for slim. |

"When I first joined I had my body type listed as ample. But then guys would say I was curvy and not ample and I should list it as such. Even the guys I have met say I am curvy so for that reason alone I changed it to curvy. "

I've put curvy for myself. Curvy encompasses a range of body shapes and sizes, people can decide for themselves if they think they might be attracted to a person by looking at the photos after all.
