I've noticed some threads, where two arguing forumers will reply each other, using reply+quote each time.
This makes each reply as big as the whole thread combined!
The quote feature is really useful, but I think this could be why the poor servers sometimes slow down

Not naughty step worthy, but if people could go through and chop some of the quoted post out, maybe just leaving the last paragraph they're replying to, I think that makes the threads flow much better. |

Maybe some users don't know that they can click quote, completely edit the OP's text to highlight the bit they want to reply to, then click outside of the quoted section to make their point in their own post. But you have a point. |

I imagine it's because a large number of site users do so through a mobile... and it's easier to click "reply & quote" than go through the faff of pruning...
Which is soooo much easier with a laptop.
Cut the fingers off of mobile users.
Simple.

It's annoying as it doesn't show who said what in a long quote, so it's hard to decipher them when they get big.
Why the system can't only include the last quote when the reply + quote function is used I don't know |

Its took me ten years to figure how to open a youtube link so i cant see it changing anytime soon"
Click the bit that says +quote
Then you can edit anything between the quote in square brackets. Just don't edit the square brackets themselves.
Then click back outside the square brackets to state your point. |

I can't really delete stuff off easily as I'm always on my phone, to be honest though if it's a weighty thread with lots of reply and quotes I just skim them

I imagine it's because a large number of site users do so through a mobile... and it's easier to click "reply & quote" than go through the faff of pruning...
