The People need to change it. It's clear from yesterday's thread in Swinger's Chat that people are pissed off with the same old shite. If a group of people are constantly taking over then another group needs to fight back and do more interesting threads. And just ignore the shite.

Yesterday i came on and it was just gibberish, i thought fair enough i will join in so i posted on a couple of threads and got completly ignored as they where like little ants flitting about, so i thought right i will start a sensible thread, then i looked and thought well its pointless as firstly it wont even be noticed and if it did shit would just get talked on it. Ok maybe a conversation about "our own version of fab website heaven".

What we would like to see on here, any changes we would like to see, anything we particularly like that gets overlooked?

We discuss the forums sporadically as miss can't stand the clique-ophants and if she posted on here we would have been banned ages ago as she takes people to task whereas I'm a little more tactical (job/career trait).

Personally I'd like to see more people with positive things to say to new people asking (yes I know they are the same old questions) newbie style/rookie questions.

People get slated on here and it's always the same 25-30 twats that do it.

Nobody says much to them as they have a pack of wolves ready to pounce to their defence and we HIGHLY suspect they have "friends in high places" here at fab so if anyone takes them to task they don't get to say anything for say "48 hours"......

We are not happy sappy crazy people but we are kind, positive, thoughtful and want the best for people and it seems bereft of those on here from our 4 weeks experience, but maybe the good ones are scared to say anything because of the vultures and wolves?

Just our thoughts and we are not really scared to share them, we really don't care about being popular on the forums, we are very assertive people in real life and so it is true here.

So what would you change or like to see?

OP would like to hear your thoughts as you started the thread

The thread yesterday got people's attention. I know what you mean though, some days it's like everyone's been bingeing on blue smarties and sunny delight. Then other days the forums are quiet or even dead. Just the way it goes I suppose.

Depends on who is online and people's mood.

If enough people shout down the popcorn wolves then things will change.

I hate it when people say "oh that was posted yesterday" - newbies don't know what was posted before. Saying use the forum search is pretty pointless as people use different thread headers.

Or when newbies ask for advice. Sometimes the question may be glaringly stupid/ racist/ sexist etc but it only needs one person to point this out. 25 people posting the same "you're stupid" type comments just looks like bullying and it's crap.

intelligent conversation

That was this thread title.

Others have pointed out that people go Waaaahaaaay off topic on some threads. That's when I leave the thread and lose interest.

But this site is themed around sex. Everyone is wired that way here. They will flirt at any given opportunity.

Also, there's a lot of dicks. They will be dicks at any given opportunity.

You can't dictate what people talk about though. You can guide, and direct your own thread. But you can't tell somebody they can't be themselves online here.

It depends what sort of scale, and location. In a lot of areas the larger local authority grants have had to be stripped right back, but there are still smaller grants available from other funders, although there tends to be less certainty.

Haha. I can't help it. I was hypnotised by the lure.

for me i dont give to a homeless charity i want to see first hand who im helping so what i do every few weeks i go "hunt a homeless person" we dont have any here so i have to travel. I sit and chat and find out what little bit i can do for them and do it. Then when im in my comfortable bed i know i might have given someone else a bit of comfort

Iceland, but Aldi is closer..

I think the main issue is the quantity of threads on the go at any one time..everyone and their dog is posting new threads so the intelligent ones pass to the wayside simply because the mass cannot be bothered with reading a long preamble.

Last site I used, the blogs were far more in depth, yep you had the same group of people posting but the blogs were not as high paced, blogs would run for days... The forum Just seems completely to different.

Unfortunately that site is a shadow of its former self hence why I, and a few others, find ourselves here.

You are a lovely bunch, so all good.

I totally agree with what you have said here. I'm new to the Forums and have tried so hard to contribute to discussions, even the inane chitchat. But I'm totally ignored most of the time. I thought the Forums would be fun as I spend a lot of time on my own, but I've already defaulted to being quiet as putting in my two cents has been pointless. I have actually found it quite intimidating at times. I, in no way, want to take centre stage and dazzle everybody with my witty stories, but being included would be nice. There are, however, some lovely and very interesting people on here who I can see are getting very frustrated and peed off with all the crappy threads! I definitely think there should be more interesting topics and that if people cannot contribute to a specific subject, they should avoid it.

I think any hope of intelligent threads taking over the other threads is now a pipe dream. The increase of fancy a shag/go for a beer type threads is rising, the declaration of lurve for other poster type threads is increasing, as is the UNLOS/Welcome Back threads. So long as these type of threads are allowed to be put up, and folk join in, then other threads will just get pushed back and ignored.

Thread hijacks are increasing, if you're so bloody friendly with a member then surely you can chat about your mutual lust via PM.

Likewise if you fancy another member then grow some balls and actually message them rather than embarress them, because all it does is turn nasty as folk don't like other folk being appreciated and they are left out.

And all the lamp-post pissing is getting out of hand too.

So until all that stops or is taken in hand by the MOD's, this site won't change.

I think for me, any thread can be interesting so long as it's actually about something. The ones which have overwhelmed the forum of late literally aren't about anything, they're just a vehicle for a group of people to chat. Which is fine, but I can't help feeling it would be better suited to a chat room than a forum.

I'm more chipper today because there are more posts which actually have a subject - obesity, society's _iew of non monogamous relationships, etc etc. There was a post last week that tickled me that was about crisp sandwiches. Fair enough it was about something pretty inane, but it was about something, and people outside the inner sanctum could contribute.

The trouble with forums, whether it be a swinging one, or one about crocheting is they do tend to be free for alls, do tend to have certain posters who just HAVE to post on every thread, regardless of their knowledge of the subject and to be honest unless you have draconian rules that are moderated to within an inch of their life threads will always go off at a tangent or be taken over by the most virulent posters. I certainly wouldn't want a forum that is completely moderated to the point you are only allowed to post on topic, so not sure what the answer is to be honest.

The success of a forum however is measured by the quality of its threads and posts/posters - maybe the key is finding/starting the quality threads and simply ignoring the inane bollocks ones...which I know is easier said than done when threads start off intelligent then go downhill very fast.

Yes, my feeling was the balance was better a couple of years ago, more threads of substance. I wish they would make the forum like the old newsgroups where you could wipe out the threads that don't interest you and keep the ones that do at the top of the page.....I do resent all the repeated trawling I have to do sometimes.

"Ok maybe a conversation about "our own version of fab website heaven".

OP would like to hear your thoughts as you started the thread "

Awesome post D here and this is the first time ive been brave enough to say anything on a forum so thanks for that!! I agree everyone has to start somewhere and people should try and be kinder to others xx

Seriously, I have some very interesting holiday tips. I was going to start a thread, but decided against it, I can't be bothered with all the negative comments or no comments.

I have told all my friends though, and they were very interested.

It saddens me at the moment the way people are responding to others in the forum. It is becoming increasingly harder to find a lighthearted thread, for me personally, to join in.

Swinging and fab (forums), are sometimes my escape from the reality, stress and anxiety of my everyday life.

I have nothing else to say and no emojis to attach

"Ok maybe a conversation about "our own version of fab website heaven".

Personally I'd like to see more people with positive things to say to new people asking (yes I know they are the same old questions) newbie style/rookie questions.

the more threads highlighting the difference in posting styles, the more divisive it all becomes....

I commented on the one yesterday in Swingers Chat and have only posted 'another day, another drama' on today's thread... that is all this is, drama. Today's thread was posted for a reaction and it is getting exactly what it was set out for. Praise and adulation.

there is a better mix today and hopefully that will continue.

I have been here a long time and I won't be stepping back because of styles I don't care for, I watch the TV or go for a walk when it bores me.

If there are no threads that interest me, I just watch the behaviours of people and I find that interesting.

I see Fab forums like a magazine. I'll read the bits I want to and avoid particular OPs because they post nothing but shite. "

This actually reminded me of a meme I saw on FB last week where a copy of Cosmo had all the adverts and paid for articles removed and went from something like 400 pages down to just 56!!

It's a good analogy for the forums really...you have to flick past a lot of dross to get to the interesting stuff.

We're not though. Some people will step away, others will start posting, others will fall out with each other, some will demonstrate their true colours (some already have), others will realise they're not actually going to get a shag off the public flirters and lose interest...and it'll all come back around. I just hope some of it is sooner rather than later.

The only thing stopping folk from posting Threads containing "intelligent" subjects are those who admit they haven't posted them.

Post them! If folk want to discuss string theory or quantum mechanics or how to resolve world peace then those interested in such threads will find them. Saying they'll get lost in the fluff or be hijacked or whatever is just an excuse for not discussing these subjects folk say they want.

If it's hijacked then politely ask the hijackers to stop & if they get offensive report them to Admin.

There's room for fluff & subjects of deeper substance. Post whatever is important to you & you'll attract your audience if it interests them. Simple really.

Do agree. It's a shame this forum isn't more tightly monitored like some sites I use, in terms of merging repeat threads and dealing with hijackers.

A lot of members on here seem more interested in scoring points and sharpening their wit than actually making it a welcoming environment.

There's a couple of talking points I've wanted to start but terrified to do so, they're nothing controversial, I just don't have the capacity and inclination to deal with the possible responses.

You shouldn't have to feel like that but I know what you mean. Always someone who takes perceived offence about something.

"Did the lounge for United nail this intelligent conversation or what. Hi five to everyone.

What d'ya think Op? How do we do.

I think it wasn't what was expected. Maybe it was. It certainly started a few well thought out threads.

Ive noticed a few here have some underlying issues, mainly your all sex mad.

But all in all. Nobody killed anyone. Which is a good thing.

But this is the lounge. S place to talk Bollox. Isn't it?"

Think it's a case of point proved... maybe gold & silver members could have there own forum page too...fuck off the riff raff ..

Just don't always want to see posts a imbecile finds amusing and the same old thing repeated till I go enough!!!!!!

"The only thing stopping folk from posting Threads containing "intelligent" subjects are those who admit they haven't posted them.

Sorry to hear you feel that way. When I can be bothered to post something more substantial than my usual nonsense, I take comfort in knowing that in the end it's just pixels on a screen. I think too often we can imbue people's comments with power by giving ours away. You have as much right as anyone to post what you want within the rules.

This thread is starting to take on the tone of a popcorn wolves thread, which is a shame because that's the type of thread that so many people have said they don't like.

A Galaxy Far, Far Away & Spain

Can I just add this thread has had a very positive outcome for me today & I'll tell you why (grab a seat - this might take a while).

Two hotties PM'd me. One single male, & one married female.

One thanked me for my post to the thread & we got chatting about a range of other subjects & we got on like the proverbial "house on fire". Even turns out we have the same tastes in movies.

It was a great way to continue the conversation & wander off topic - just by using the PM button.

The second was another hottie that began by some cheeky banter & quickly ended up by exchanging face pics as well as some interesting information on other matters.

All in all a very unexpected & pleasurable way of making connections with two hot people.

So when folk say certain things restrict chat in the Forums, just remember the connections you can make using the PM button. The tools are there to use, unless you're the sort of tool who can't work the system to your benefit.

Peace out. Love, Random

"

I see Fab forums like a magazine. I'll read the bits I want to and avoid particular OPs because they post nothing but shite.

This actually reminded me of a meme I saw on FB last week where a copy of Cosmo had all the adverts and paid for articles removed and went from something like 400 pages down to just 56!!

It's a good analogy for the forums really...you have to flick past a lot of dross to get to the interesting stuff.

Mr G"

Thats a great analogy

"You'll not find it here, as soon as decent conversation starts the same 25 people start a thread hijack about absolute shite, in jokes, and general gibberish with emoticons.

The People need to change it. It's clear from yesterday's thread in Swinger's Chat that people are pissed off with the same old shite. If a group of people are constantly taking over then another group needs to fight back and do more interesting threads. And just ignore the shite. "

You so bloody right! Ridiculous same tread every week! Is just draining!!!!

Not read the whole thread but if people desire stimulating debates on here then start a thread that piques the interest and avoid those types of thread you don't like.

I'm just a simple boy and maybe have a naive _iew of the world but if you want to change something be the catalyst for that change, don't expect others to do it for you! Easy!

"What would you like to talk about then start a thread on the subject

Exactly, there's far too many people moaning about thing's and me moaning about the people moaning. If you don't like the other thread's then start something interesting yourself. This one has failed, you need to try again."

Quite. But why put the effort in when you can decry everybody elses ?

"The trouble with forums, whether it be a swinging one, or one about crocheting is they do tend to be free for alls, do tend to have certain posters who just HAVE to post on every thread, regardless of their knowledge of the subject and to be honest unless you have draconian rules that are moderated to within an inch of their life threads will always go off at a tangent or be taken over by the most virulent posters.

Mr G"

But ....... it is draconian and we ARE supposed to keep to the topic
