Should it be compulsory for new users to fully complete their profile?
I personally think it should be - and that admin insist on a completed profile, before the new member is permitted to join the site.
In my opinion, an empty profile indicates laziness and a lack of commitment at best; And at worst it is a sure sign of a fake.
Consequently, I avoid them.
I feel that this (simple?) move by admin may well - at a stroke, drastically reduce the number of fakes / picture hunters and disingenuous thrill seekers using the site.

"It is another filter, they can't be arsed to fill their profile, I can't be arsed to answer their mail."
I would agree with this if I ever received a message from one! |

"Stone them...

Crucifixion? Good. Line on the left, one cross each.
(Sorry, quoting satirical comedy randomly is an affliction). |

I make a bit of an assumption with profiles. Lazy profile = lazy fuck. So I quite like the "will fill in later" profiles because I just think 'not me you won't sunshine'. |

Me too and we would just pass them by. "
To my point everyone gets to make the choices that suit them. |

I think I just feel in love with a random stranger on the interweb. Anyone who can quote Python so nonchalantly deserves my admiration and never ending lust/love. My hubby would probable beg to join in too |

In my experience a lack of public photos can indicate that the people don't have characteristics that I'm looking for.
Great!
Thank fuck that everyone has different profiles or we'd never be able to filter out and find those who are right for us! |

Well Liam - if one is to examine all the "fed up of timewasters" threads. It would seem that a lot of people here do actually care.
You've actually put some basic details, your interests (well interest) and even an avatar on your profile. That's more than I'm actually suggesting. |

NO, it's not that they are clueless, it's that they have so many other profiles on Fab and other sites, they have now ran out of ideas. |

The profile is there to sell the user. If they choose not to bother, well that's their business. It's a bit like walking in to Aldi or Lidl and complaining that they aren't using the marketing techniques, of other chains. If you don't like it, don't shop there! |

It was nothing more than me expressing my opinion (isn't this the main raison d'etre of these forums?) and making a positive suggestion to make this a better place for ALL the genuine people in here - after all, there are numerous threads on here complaining about "timewasters". If you don't think it's a good idea, fair enough; But as for your trolling / negative (and totally uncalled for) comments - the words "water" and "ducks back" spring to mind. |

I genuinly love the way you're allowed to express an opinion, but anyone else who expresses theirs is a troll.

Sure. I'll spell it out for you again. I happen to think that having new members complete all fields in their profile would discourage disingenuous people from bothering to join. It is a suggestion I made for sensible discussion. You disagree and although you haven't said why that is so; I've accepted that without resorting to derogatory comments.
Every person's opinion on here is as valid as anyone else's, but posts saying that I "want my internet dick sucked" and saying mine is a "bollocks to anyone else" attitude are derogatory, inflammatory, extraneous, and off topic, and (I suspect) designed to provoke an emotional response from me - Hmmm. Now what might that be the definition of?

Cool.
There are mandatory profile fields that have to be filled in already.
I'm guessing you mean the personal biog element of the profile.
In which case, what do you consider to be an acceptable level of information?
How are you measuring it's sufficiency? Number of paragraphs? Word count? Minumum word count? Maximum word count?
What about the Fab favourites, grammar and punction? Do your rules allow for dislexics? (That's not spelt right is it?)
And of course, who judges it's adequacy or sufficiency?
What's your yardstick?
I've seen 5 line profiles that say everything. I've seen war and peace profiles that say nothing.
Don't get me started on ranty shouty, upper case, I want I want I want profiles.
BTW, I didn't say you need your dick sucked, but I do feel you want everyone's profiles to be run by your definition of what's "acceptable."
You do make it sound like you want Fab to be run your way, when in truth, the things that stick in your craw are easily avoided.
What if no one else wants to follow your rules? (And given the comments so far, does seem to be the case)
Few questions there for you, and all on topic, I'll be genuinely interested in your responses.

There are other sites that insist you fill in reams of information before you can open your profile when you join up. I couldn't be arsed and cancelled the application. So it could be a good idea. |
