On or off, each has its merits 
On, and you can see the other person's body and facial reactions.
Off, and your other senses are heightened. You smell them, feel, taste and hear them better. |

On, but well thought out lighting -- I like a mood and ambiance. Lighting is key to setting a certain mood and creating the right aesthetics -- all of which add to my enjoyment. I like *all* my senses involved/stimulated and my mind engaged.
Having said that, a good screw in the dark is simply a different mood/vibe -- and works for me too!  |

I want to say on...but then I remember those middle of the night pitch dark fucks which can be amazing because you can't see anything.
I tend to naturally shut my eyes quite a lot anyway. |
