What's the best you've found?
My mum bought me a gorgeous pair of almost new tan boots - not many ladies size eights seem to come into charity shops - for thirteen quid yesterday, I've just googled the brand and the boots are around one hundred new. ![](/icons/s/eek.gif) |

Too many items to mention but my most recent is a new, leather bomber jacket with removable fur trimmed hood for £8.00.
I also bought pair of suede trousers new with tags for £1 the week before last. |

I dont even know where to begin with my charity shop/ebay bargains.
I am the queen of bargains. I have boots and shoes that rrp is over £250 . I think the karen millen boots for £4.99 that retail at £280 where probably the cheapest boots.
I also have a dress ( ive not worn ) that i got for £6.99 that would cost around £400 new.
But most of my dresses are makes like monsoon, phase eight that kind of quality and ive rarely paid above £10 for them.
I got a jaegar dress for £5 that was still in their online shop for £180.
But its the quirky clothes i like getting the best, plus i like oldfashioned stuff as well so probably the best bargains are the things i wouldnt get elsewhere.
I did pay £25 for a dress from a vintage charity shop but the quality is amazing and completly timeless |

It's good that a lot of retailers donate their unsold stuff to charity - all helps their tax situation and our bargain hunting. I've not had mega bargains yet though had some nice stuff around Sheffield. |

"Remember when you were younger and it was all about how expensive the things you own were....now it's all about how cheap they were "
There has been a shift in that direction. I notice that Aldi and Lidl are much more acceptable to my friends who previously would rather go hungry than set foot in them. |

I think I remember reading something after the recession had hit, that instead of bragging how much they had people were bragging about how bad things were.
Like competing to see who had been hit harder.
I love charity shops I get loads of furniture to revamp from them. But I've noticed them selling things at over the odds prices, some I've seen prices higher than brand new |

we've noticed that too, round here they have summer and winter prices too. I suppose they will charge what the market can stand. |

"Love a bargain, will rarely pay full price for anything except sex toys.
Prefer to find genuine classic designed stuff than modern high street. Quality is so shite these days. "
I agree. I couldn't have afforded the soft leather jacket I have new, the cut and quality is excellent and it appears to either have been tailored for some one who was the same size as me or was a sample as it has no labels at all in it and was clearly unworn.
A woman some 30 years younger than me told me last night I was her "style goal" which considering that a high percentage of my clothes are from charity speaks volumes for their quality and cut. |
