Say it as it is - no regrets ...
He was intellegent, articulate and a charmer......he had a rare tumour, no hope, no cure and immense pain.
He was dressed for work in business attire, ate his normal breakfast including prunes and chatted away......
He called me to the breakfast table......
He stood up to face me ......
He slid his fingers from my cheeks over my ears and through my hair.....
I looked up into his eyes......
He drew my head towards his ......
He kissed my forehead ever so gently .....
His fingers still in my soft hair either side of my head....
Looking straight into my eyes and said -
"I regret all the cross times we have ever had, the arguments and the wasted moments - I LOVE YOU"
I melted, looked deeply into my husband's eyes and said
I LOVE YOU TOO
He then drew me in for the most tender kiss......
I rushed out of the house and said I'll see you this evening and we will watch that Australian programme ..... he called back ... "of course"
Twenty minutes later he ran infront of an 18tonne truck on a motor way ......
I saw his lukewarm body swollen, no colour except RED when they quickly wiped the red blood away from his ears and nose and splatters all over his face and had covered a hole in his head with huge white gauze...
...
I lifted the sheet to hold his hand even though they said not to .... it was shocking and physically impossible .....
I tenderly touched his toes ....
I returned to his side without as many injuries .....
Caressed his face .....
Kissed his forehead
And said .....
I LOVE YOU TOO......
My darlings .....You either love each other or you don't ......
Nothing else really matters......
If you both love each other - the rest is trivial
Have no regrets and say it as it is .....life really is too short x
Love

It doesn't mean monogamy - we all have different relationships and what works for us is personal preference ....
It's about having no regrets .....
Saying it how it is .....
Recognising sometimes our breath could be out last one or theirs .....
It's a message of encouragement x |

No matter what happened and how you wish you could have done it differently, no amount of regret will change anything.
Learn and move forward.
And a big hug for you OP for such a positive, thought provoking gem of a thread |

Of course it's sad .....
Yet with no cure worldwide and horrendous pain ..... it was his choice sweet.
My message was just pure encouragement to occasionally think our breath could be our last or theirs....
We all have different lives..... different circumstances .....it's just my perspective ........ if we love each other the rest is trivial ...... lifestyle / choices / needs / wants - - all can be figured out ....
It was just a message to say - pause - take a moment to recognise this breath could be your last or theirs and do what you think you need to do ..... live and love above all things - live and love - don't simply exist

Thanks SSSassy - a brave move - and thoughtful move for others.
Those of us who've almost gone: there are a fair few here, or have had others go, tend to think and feel this way. Sometimes a life event can be needed to help us refocus on what's really important and what we value most.
Being authentic is important for our wellbeing and helps others to understand and get closer to us. It's not always easy but is a satsifying way to live your life. |

Really touched me OP I lost my little sister many years ago and for a long time afterwards I was a shell of a person. I takes a lot to move on with your life and as others of said grab it with both hands and make the most of it. People whining about silly things seems so sad just enjoy the moment.
Hope you remember all the good stuff. |

A sad but beautiful memory of an unbreakable bond that sadly a lot of couples will never experience.
We get this one tiny insignificant life and we never know when it will be taken from us so go out and enjoy it.

But know matter what you and your husband knew love, true love and you let him chose his way to go with no anger.
Understanding is a word that can be used flippently.
But when you truelly understand someone.
Anyway im waffling on but i know what i mean, hope you do |

I'm so sorry for your loss. What a brave lady you must be.
One line in particular was key for me in this thread.
If you love each other the rest is trivial. I needed to be reminded of that.
Thank you for sharing something so sacred. Xxx |

Yet you had to post to tell everyone this
My comment was based on the opening title, and after receiving a message I have asked admin to remove it!"
Was it beyond your ability to read the whole post? Perhaps if you had nothing nice to say, you should have kept quiet? |
