In fairness quite a few of the recent ones it's not the person that's gone that's created drama. It's the multiple threads, the 'are they okay' posts, the updates that 'I've spoken to them and they are okay' or my fave ever 'they needed a break and are feeling better for it' posted 3 hours after they'd gone that have create the drama.

I left the other week someone put a "shocked" unlos thread up yet the unlos had pmed their friends to say they where going so they seemed to be devasted about someones going who they werent even friends with. That amused me

I think your thinking is all wrong every time someone joins the forum community they are adding to the community making it better more vibrate for us all .so when someone leaves the site and they are a contributor to the forums and its community the community loses something that's is what people are mostly expressing when they say they will miss someone they will miss the contribution to the forum community.

There are 100s of people posting on this forum. Like all forums it's a fluid dynamic and people cone and go all the time. I don't see why we need these obituaryesque threads if people leave without a fanfare.

Most of us don't object to people being missed. It's the "I'm worried that they're Ok" "something terrible must have happened" kinda weird shit that is just odd. People stop using sites all the time. The fact that people think it has anything to do with events on the site i just find plain odd. It's like they are suggesting their entire life revolves around a website. That isn't a sane person's thought process.

I think it speaks volumes about the people posting these comments as the impression I get is that their lives do revolve around the forums and they seem incapable of considering that that isn't the case for everyone else. It's pretty sad

I have received private messages in the past when people I have known have gone UNLOS from other fab members asking me if they're OK. I never really know how or if I even should respond to that.

you maybe right on that but who cares .all I want is a vibrate forum community to pass some spare time on call me selfless be for that to happen we need interesting fun people enjoying passing some time on here .

what ever happens to force someone off a site must be something in there eyes that has ruined the fun of being here .what ever it was is personal to them to me it may seem trivial maybe even to you but to them is was something and as a empathic human being one can not help but feel sorry for there polite .

The last few posts sum up the phenomenon perfectly for me. Yes when someone you have got to know leaves a site it can be sad, but (the perfectly coined IMHO) "obituaryesque threads" are a little OTT (again IMHO).

They may have not been forced off the site, they can leave of their own free will.

If someone has had something truly horrible happen to them as a result of being on Fabs & it was known then I can understand a thread being started to let a group of people know en masse that he / she are okay.

if I have some spare time and room for a few more friends in my life I come on here and go on the warpath to try and find them.

if I have no such room in my life I leave my profile sitting here unused .

the fact someone erases there profile makes one think the worst where as hiding it or just leaving it unused kind of implies things are ok where as the other doesn't in my opinion .

yes one day I may choose off my own back to leave this game behind me and on the day I choose to do that I would erase my profile but I'm the kind of guy who would post a goodbye post for no other reason that to say thanks for the fun prev,s

There can be any number of reasons someone might go UNLOS including simply being bored with the site, or losing interest in it, maybe meeting someone in real life that isn't into swinging, a lifestyle change, for effect and many many more that aren't "the worst"...so really have no idea why you'd "think the worst" because someone goes UNLOS _andsonjohn?
