Hand driers...the blue led trend...wtf?

It is UVC Plasma; creates Oxygen Radicals

He he...yeah..they are implying that the light is UV (invisible). There may well be some crystals and pyramids involved too. Just weird how they came up with it in the first place.

Yeah, possibly on high grade hospital equipment...but in your pub toilet it's simply a blue LED!

Smoke and mirrors.

Still got your S4? Mine died almost a month into a new sim only contract. Was just over 2 years old at the time. RIP S4 (best ever phone I have had)

Can't be, you're not allowed to smoke in pubs anymore.

I'm always too distracted by the fact it looks like it's blowing my skin off to notice the blue light.

I thought it was a laser guided target. So you know where to put your hands for the maximum blow.

Ha ha...I just read some blurb on a hand dryer site that claims the blue light actually focusses the drying air to where it is most needed.

Never needed the term ROFL before but that is what it was made for.

I didn't know whether to crack up or feel insulted when I read it!

You could be correct

But in hospitals, it is UVC Plasma (not UV) hence within the visible spectrum

There was a time the salesmen used an engineer to apply latest scientific advances to their products. Now they just add random things and make up the science. It started with shampoo (not my personal field of expertise - the stress of working out which shampoo was best made my hair fall out )

Still I'm off to sell your idea of a pyramid shaped hand-drier, it's a winner

True Ultra Violet is beyond the visible spectrum so you won't see it. The Highest frequency the human eye can detect is Violet

The product you are talking about UVC Plasma which emits radiation within the visible spectrum. I think someone mention UV and I was just clarifying where the 'Blue' light was coming from

Now back to the kitchen sink

Trouble is blue light stops your body from producing hormones to get you to sleep - so those things could delay and disturb your essential rest. Maybe take your own towels for evening drying use.

The blue led ones seem to use an air cannon, that ripples your skin. Moving your hand too close to the machine would shred it from your hand

But better than the Dyson ones that switch off before they've done the ends of your fingers

UVC has a shorter wavelength than UVA and UVB (the buggers that burn you) and could be called ultra ultra violet (but it's not). It's not being used directly to kill bugs (cos that would be dangerous to peeps)..rather to produce lone oxygen...ozone...free radicals..to ionise the air...to produce "plasma"...whatever name for the same thing you prefer..which kills bacteria.

And yes it also emits visible blue light.

Not denying that this technology exists...the point I'm making is that manufacturers latch on to stuff like this and use it to bullshit people.

Hence the silly blue LEDs on every hand dryer.

Surpised they haven't included "quantum" in there somewhere.
