Unplugged

Sometimes I hate technology, being constantly contactable specifically, and ill often just leave my phone at home and just get away for a day or two.

The reaction I get from some people when I tell them this can range from acceptance an understanding to down right anger at the fact I'm not contactable

Am I alone in just wanting to be unplugged now and then?

No.

It's an excellent idea.

I remember once when I was in a tricky conversation with a tricky sub, slipped, dropped my phone and it SMASHED.

My immediate reaction was one of relief, believe it or not.

A bit of down time is good.

It's encouraged by some companies now, so you get no emails from going on hol until you return. Same at weekends.

I thought this was gonna be a thread about Nirvana! I haven't had a technology 'cleanse' for a long long time. It would probably do me some good.

When I leave work at the end of the day I become un-contactable. It infuriates some of those I work with but these days my work life balance is more important than climbing the promotion ladder.

I think unplugged is overrated...but anger seems a strange reaction

I tend to carry my phone everywhere, but still ignore people if I want to

Me, Paul and my teenager all rely on technology too much. I'm determined to make us all have a couple of hours without it this week. Especially with the amount of time I spend on here and taking with people from here.
