I'm just looking for a bit of advice as I'm not that experienced. Under targets,I've got to perform some middle ear surgery tonight on a female in her forties. Any guidance would be much appreciated - I'm asking here as the forum always has enough people with skills and high competency. I'm not returning to theatre for a while, as we had complications on our previous biopsy and investigatory work on another. There must Bea few professionals up.

I don't mind a biased opinion, as I'm struggling thinking about the intricacies of it.

Just consensus pointers, giving me direction would help. If anyone's local, I can get you swiped in, if you could give me your professional guidance over coffee.

Have you done it as well? We're not videoing tonight, so at least I can't see any shortcomings.

I should point out I'm still outside of the UK health service it's not an NHS teaching hospital.

Get an earwig to do it, just tell him what to do and sneak him in. If he fucks it up, just pull him out and suggest the earwig was the problem all along...win win

Ear surgeon? Oh that's good, good for you. You'll be fine.

It's not exactly brain surgery after all.

(Even then, whilst brain surgery *is* tricky, it's not exactly rocket science, is it?)

I thank everyone for their help - I think we would have had more expert input here if I'd posted in the daytime.

Fab. Real experts for anything.
