I'm afraid I've never seen the big point of Skype, to be honest.

For a call to be free the person on the other end has to also have Skype.

I pay Vodafone £25 a month and get 500 minutes + UNLIMITED landline calls. I now also pay BT £4.99 a month for ALL landline calls including 0845 and 0870 numbers.

So I can only assume that I'm missing something big style?!

Well if you have family who live in Australia, Canada or even Timbuktu if they have Skype then yes the calls are free for as long as you wish to speak

I can well see the benefit in video calling abroad, but what then is the difference between Skype and say Yahoo Messenger or MSN/Live?

If you have a Skype phone there isn't any need to be tied at home, or elsewhere,to p.c or laptop

No the call quality is much better. Skype can doe a few thins MSN can't.

Wish Skype all PC to PC calls are free. So that is great if you have family and friends abroad. You can also use Skype to call mobiles and landlines. You do this buy buying pre-paid credit. Also if you so wish you can get a Skype telephone number so people with a mobile or landline can call you on the PC.
