You can see the forums as a non member - do you lot know nowt? If this hadn't gone awry I for one would have messaged her the link to it so she could read it.

As it is I'll say that you lot have no idea what you are missing if you don't know who she is and to the others shame on you.

If you have put her off coming back even more I'll happily make you all a dog poo chocolate cake with help from Taff's pooch.

Where others see negativity it appears I see interesting threads. It's been better on the forums by far than it was six months ago when I left, when it was all cliquey love-in shit.

But regardless, I still don't see how posting happy birthday to someone who's not on the site, who a lot of new posters don't know, who it might not even be their real birthday, is supposed to make anything more positive?

Taff, you're a lovely chap, we get it, but this is just odd.

Don't be sad, Taff, your heart was in the right place, as always.

Like many, Knitter always brought some levity to the forums, and I too was sad to learn that she had left. As always, I hope that she left for the right reasons, and is in a good place.

But there is a reason I seldom post on the Happy Birthday threads: I always worry that to the lurkers and newbies they reinforce the stereotype of there being a forum clique, especially when there are numerous birthday threads and some get many more posts than others. And for every forumite who leaves, we need to encourage a lurker or a newbie to join.

So Happy Birthday to you, the lurker at the back. Yes you, now come on in and say 'hello'

Mr ddc

Ps. To that poster who mentioned Anna Anon: I think you need to check your facts. According to my spreadsheet today isn't even her birthday...

"Well I have passed on your regards ans the lady in question said thank you.

Just one last question , that seems to puzzle me .

IF YOU THOUGHT IT WAS A POINTLESS THREAD, WHY DID YOU POST TO IT ?

Surly by posting you then gave the thread validation.

There has been so much negativity recently , I was hoping this may have made us stop and think .

Maybe its time for a forum break myself, I am not in the least bit grumpy. As I see you all as rather smashing people

Play nicely

Taff

Mr ddc

"

During the summer holidays whilst a lot of 'regulars' were away, new people started posting / or maybe they were just getting noticed more, which was good as it changed the dynamics of the forum & freshened it up a bit.

It's an ever evolving environment.

I thought it was obvious but, since it appears it needs spelling out...

People who have left may be tipped off by someone still here that there are birthday wishes on the forum for them. Just as they might read them and enjoy that people wish them well when they are here, they may choose to put the Fab URL in the little address bar and read the forum to see who has wished them well.

They may not exist on here as a profile but they do exist as a real person having a birthday.

Is that clear enough?

I know who she was, we exchanged the odd message.

People leave fabs for a reason and usually the reason means that they want the site/swinging out of their lives. Ergo this thread is pointless.

It's just another day in Fabville! Groundhog Day.

Isn't it amazing how a casual sex site (which I would assume should be a fun enjoyable pastime) seems to stir up such drama on the Forums every day?

I know a break for a while often does me good - go away, recharge the batteries, refresh myself. Then I come back and realise little has changed

Keep smiling - it was a well meaning and well intentioned thread for those that liked her

She seemed nice. But there were about 12 threads when she left, and I'm sure if/when she returns there will be much rejoicing. Are we supposed to be keeping her memory warm for a grand return? Is that what this is about? Her friends are clearly still all in contact with her off the site, rendering this just all a bit odd.

Memories were kept warm for others who left and some have returned. It has happened when some have taken a break and hidden and then they are welcomed back.

It's not something that would happen for me (apart from endless birthday wishes) but I don't have a problem with others getting this virtual affection.

Threads can be avoided.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

"

This needs to hit 175 quickly.

Which reminds me of the thread that tempted me back the time before last, when Knitter was trying to close a thread by counting, very badly, up to 175

You had comments and threads about you when you were in forum hiding. But you were peeking, weren't you?

Were there?

I may have forum searched "ddc" a couple of times, but when I got no hits, I just thought "Sod the miserable lot of them" and went off to sulk for a bit longer "

I should have sent you the links at the time instead of just checking you were still alive. I'll try and remember for next time.

Now, how have you got a desktop in a tent?
