After nearly 10 years today I say goodbye to my BMW 330i. An absolute dream to drive and so sad to see it go.

So what has been your favourite car to drive?

My garage looked at mine and said there was a very real risk of that happening and to get whatever I could sell it for. Totally gutted, handles like a dream, quick as anything and just wonderful to drive. Never been much of a car person but I may even shed a tear

Out of all the cars I have had from skylines to cosworths my favourite was my Clio williams. Always regretted letting that go.

I had a 330i beaut of a car.

Most fun car I drove was an RX7 import with about 700 horses. Impossible to keep in a straight line but just a laugh beyond all laughs

My fave car was nowt special, but it was a 2.0 Mazda 6. I loved it for lots of reasons and it held a lot of memories

But for fun it was either the Capri I briefly drove or my Calibra

My nicest car was my Escort. 1.6. Top of the range and the interior was lovely.

I wish I had that car now.

I briefly (about 6 months) had a Nissan Cherry Turbo....don't laugh!

It had been chipped, re-mapped and had a bigger turbo fitted by previous owner. It had stupid bhp for a car that was basically a shopping trolley on fat wheels.

If you hit the pedal hard it basically slammed you onto the back seat. Escort RS turbos were all the rage at the time......it used to eat them.....until it disappeared in a cloud of blue smoke when I blew the turbo!

Cant pick a total favourite... but my clio 172 came close.. the first one... then my type r subaru.. just because it was one of the first imported 2drs and had people confused at the time and was awesomely fast..

And my last two that i loved was my metro vvc with 200bhp but looked like a standard one. But i have a soft spot for my 156 v6 alfa too...

But I think from that list it would be my clio thay wins...

Totally, in sports mode you simply didn't notice the gears shifting, the boot wasn't big but was beautifully formed. Sleek lines, gorgeous figure and a real head turner. Gave me so many memorable rides.

It's not the new shape no - it's the older one with the 2.0L engine but heavily modified for track use.

The new shape are also excellent but drive a little differently due to the turbo (power in different places etc)

Bother cars handle incredibly! Either on a country lane are an absolute hoot!

favourites for very different reasons,

Morris Oxford, 2 bench seats as a stearing wheel that did a quarter turn either way before the wheels noticed.

Lotus Elan, sexy crisp drive not fast by today's standards but in its time, it was awesome.

Transit van with the usual rust smoke sticky gears etc. a mattress in the back we did a couple of years of festivals pretty much living in the van if we were not in work.

These days I prefer bikes.

Mine was an Alfa Spider 3.2 (same Basso engine as the GTA) I had a 3.2 GTV afterwards but it wasn't the same. The sound of that engine with Ragazzon pipes, especially from cold, was extraordinary. The torque delivery and the way people stopped and looked when you drove past. It was a proper drivers car too, handles like it was in a cartoon most of the time but would bite you if you were being a plonker.

I have a GT now and although it's a "better" car it's nothing like the older Alfa's, especially since they switched from the Busso engines to the GM based JTSO's.

My old Cossie was built by Seven Valley. It had 575bhp and demolished most things on the road at the time. I thought I'd regret selling it when I first started tuning it but it was actually the best thing I ever did. The clutch was brutal in traffic or when cold and with so much power coming through the back wheels all the time it constantly wanted to swap ends even in the dry regardless of what chasis mods I'd done. It would have been perfect if I'd stopped at around 400bhp.

The car I regret selling the most was my Series 2A 1961 Land Rover.

I went everywhere in her including on the sea when it froze over in Denmark.

I never knew the roof had a leak on the passenger side until we started courting.

I part exchanged her for a 1977 Range Rover and a tree fell on that five days later after the storm a certain Michael Fish said wouldn't happen in 1987.

The car that's impressed us the most was the hire car we were loaned when my Isuzu was side swiped, an Audi Q7.

Wow, what a car!!

"Alfa 147 GTA with plenty of AutoDelta upgrades. She handled like on rails and left supercars in its wake, brings a tear to the eye thinking about her!

I have a GT now and although it's a "better" car it's nothing like the older Alfa's, especially since they switched from the Busso engines to the GM based JTSO's."

Yeah it's fair to say that was the last 'proper' alfa engine. Same with the t-sparks before they went over to the jts units. Mine was running just over 400bhp with a straight through exhaust, it turned heads everywhere it went. Okay now the tears are here!

You can get the gt with the busso engine, It's on my list of potentials, as long as it's got a q2 fitted and is of course black and tan!

It was also my first car

I had a mk3 2.8 vr6. Thing was a weapon!

I had in 1997 a 350hp Cosworth Sierra that destroyed 2.8 vr6 golf's.. i'd let them go past just to get behind them then unleash the destroyer.. ahhhh the good old days

It would have been perfect if I'd stopped at around 400bhp."

I stopped with the 2wd's had a 3dr and a escort both at the same time and the escorts handling was great but the 3dr was a hooligan machine.... sold both and got a evo but it's ok now gotta bigger turbo Escort Cosworth

Yeah I know. It was on my list too but couldn't justify the fuel economy of the 3.2 GT

My 1.9 has the Q2 and as you said, it's vital in the 3.2. Autolusso supply and fit them for reasonable money (they've also developed a sequential gearbox with Quaife, ask Ned to take you out for a drive in his).

The only other things to watch for on the GT is the floor rusting, crushed sills from dodgy mechanics and upper wishbone bushes.

I have heard that they were doing this and reckon it's better than the Q2! Is that a retro sequential or if the sillyspeed is already in? All the same issues as the 147, since they are the same car hardly surprising lol

It's a proper sequential, pretty much the same as the Alfa 155 touring cars but with fast road ratios.

Fun fact about the Selespeed box, it's exactly the same system as used by Ferrari. The reason most people have issues with it is because of crap mechanics not knowing how it works (they're actually quite easy).

I was amazed the garage that bought it didn't ask if there were any warning lights or problems fortunately it behaved the day they valued it and today when I dropped it off. Will be interesting when they plug in the diagnostics and realise it's fucked!

My favourite car has to be my 1st, a little nippy 306. Loved it, traded it in for a RAV4 my boss brought me...now that was fun to drive as well but kept having problems with the water pump so sold it on eBay and it's now living in Africa

Pointless unless you take them on track days. You'd be better off with something like a Lotus Elise/Exige, Alfa 4C or similar.

Failing that my personal choice would be a Mercedes C63 AMG (I bet no one saw that coming).

How about a Maserati Gran Torissmo? Stunning design and much less common than a lot of other super cars.

Beige mini metro, would only do 70mph but since that's the max speed limit it was still fine in the outside lane of the motorway.

BMW 335D.... Had to go after I got my last trio of points taking me up to nine. Only took 11 months from first indiscretion to my last court appearance! That last one was 97 mph in a 70 and the copper made a mistake and told me 96.. After the error was discovered, they decided to leave it at 97, but not give me a court appearance!

Then got the Jag which has finally died 6 years later.. No idea what to get now...
