I had one lot that spent 6 months partying until 2/3am. Always told me to F off if I asked them to turn it down and had a garden like a jungle. I've never been so relieved as when their rental term finished. |

My current one who I've unfortunately had to put up with since 1995, both gardens look like landfill/scrap yards, s and thorn bushes overgrowing everywhere, no pride in personal appearance.
Unfortunately he owns it so pretty much nothing we can do about the gardens, tried selling our house twice and failed purely cause of the eyesore next door |

My last downstairs neighbours...loud, obnoxious and when our window was open it smelled like a rastafarian brewery at break time.
I slackened all the drain pipework under the bath so it was barely hanging on before i left so i expect they'll have got a bit of a leak through their ceiling since we left...one last goodbye |

Christ almighty...
When I lived in a housing association flat, my upstairs neighbours played music so loud that my ceiling would shake every single night while I was working 10+ hour shifts in a care home. The association flatly refused to move him out until the neighbour put a TV through his own living room window & flooded his flat which then leaked into my flat. |

The recently vacated ones. Young couple, think they shared a brain cell, 3 young kids, called the police and social services at one point as I heard the bloke call the oldest (3yrs) a little c*** and then her screaming while being hit. |

Upstairs neighbour went on holiday and left her two kids, young teenagers. Son had a very noisy party, I had a baby in the house and ended up calling the police and council. Seized the sound equipment!
Nightmare times

All the same house I used to live next door to, but a variety of tenants:
1 - Gaggle of youngish people, not students, they were too old for that, who would have loud parties till 4am on week nights. I was regularly outside in my dressing gown screaming at them and on the phone to the council about them.
2 - Horrible chavvy woman who moved her greasy ponytailed boyfriend in with her and her kids after about a week, proceeded to get knocked up with another one and then had a home birth in the bedroom adjacent to my bedroom which had very thin walls. As well as the squealing like a stuck pig during sex, she'd also lie in bed till about 9am shouting at her kids to get ready for school, without actually getting up herself
3 - Nice enough family, but one of their children who was about 3 or 4 would scream like the spawn of satan, all the fucking time.
Now I've moved and my neighbours are all quiet pensioners and it's bliss. |

A nasty, vile, little head who used to laugh with his mates about "kicking in pakis" and raping girls "for a laugh.
He threatened another neighbour of mine with a hammer.
Glad I moved before I shot him. I'm hoping he's behind bars now.

Old apartments I was living in, it was the neighbour downstairs. Upon saying goodbye to a meet one night at the main door, I had to walk past neighbours door to get to my apartment.
As I neared his door, he must have been watching me, he appeared and his exact words were "you looking for jiggy jiggy". Gave him a stern NO and I bolted to my apartment. Two minutes later he was knocking on my door . Thank fuck it was locked.
He frightened the fuck out of me. |

My previous neighbour loved motor bikes. He had about half a dozen in a tiny garage and got them all started regulary and revved the nuts off them at all hours of the day and night. 6:30 on a Sunday morning. 11 o'clock at night.
He asked to buy some land to build a bigger garage to bring all his others to the house. I said no and they sold up. Yay |

Been lucky with neighbours where I am now, although family moved in next door few years ago, 16 year old son decided to party 1st time he was on his own. Had private words ( I'll smash your fucking head in if you wake my kids up again) and amazingly he's not had a party since
I find if you're nice to them, they are nice back |

I had a neighbour in the flat opposite, she would send her little girl to ask if she could borrow some tea, being neighbourly I obliged..
That was it, floodgate opened.. It got the point where it was almost every day, "mummy said could she borrow some beans; some sugar; some chips" never did I see any of the items in return...I was shopping for 2 extra..
I kinda felt sorry for the daughter, lovely kid and i knew she would go hungry if i didn't hand over the food. It wasn't her fault her mum was a slob.
It came to a head when she sent the little girl asking for money and I refused..
The girl went back empty handed to a barrage of abuse from the mother calling all the little cunts under the sun and how's she meant to afford fans now..
It was me now knocking at her door, threatening to report her to social services..
The day I moved out, a knock at the door "mummy said are you leaving the carpets"
"of course I am" I said "I will roll them up and put them outside"
So kind of me, I know..
The trouble was, the flat was opposite mine and an exact mirror image, so the only way the carpets would have fitted is upside down. |

A neighbour got a cockerel by mistake and it preceded to merrily wake up the neighbourhood at about 04:00 every morning. They could amazingly sleep through it.
They could not sleep through me bashing their door. I felt strongly that they should be awake if I was. They didn't have the heart to get rid so asked if I could in the end and I happily obliged.
I could have understood if I moved next door to a farm.

I've always been quite lucky with neighbours, the odd party or scuffle but nothing on an ongoing basis.
Bit i once lived in a shared house and a south African guy moved in, used to talk about the slaves his parents employed, call everyone that wasn't white a nigger and tell everyone continually how great south Africa was. To give an idea of how loathsome he was he once played for the 3rd team of a local pub's cricket team, they told him after 2 matches not to go back as given the choice of him making up the numbers or them not fielding a team they'd rather not play. Vile little prick |

Ooh these are making our neighbours sound like a breeze...we live next door to a pub, the type of pub you keep hoping will become a statistic and close down very soon. Could be a wonderful village pub but the landlords encourage the worst of the worst |

Current neighbours.
Thump up the stairs.. The staircases are on the far away walls and its like a herd of elephants. Two unruly feral kids under 8 that scream, and are allowed to play football in the house or bang about. They dump them on relatives and often bring them home after ten at night.
The mother smokes 24/7 and does it outside day and night. But she's constantly on her phone in the garden.
Thick stupid selfish idiots. |

Years ago, the first house I ever bought, the neighbours had 3 kids under 15 who were all quite feral, made the most incredible amount of noise practically every eve, as the parents went to the local wmc every night except Wednesday. 3 yrs of hell. |

My old next door neighbours where I live now were a pain in the arse. They had multiple vehicles that they'd park how and where they wanted with little regard for me trying to get my car out (my drive is angled and easily blocked ). I asked them numerous times if they'd be a little more considerate with their parking but they basically said they'd park how they liked. One winter night I was clearing snow off my car, the engine was running and lights were on when their oldest son just parked his car directly behind mine (blocking me totally) and went straight into his house. I asked if he'd move it as I was on my way out and was told to fuck off! I started sounding my horn and after a couple of minutes he came out screaming and yelling in my face, literally two inches away. I said calmly "just move your car", he continued to scream and yell aggressively (with his family watching but doing nothing). I decided I'd had enough and dropped him on his arse in the snow. Looked at his dad and said calmly "when you've moved him, you can move his car". They never blocked my drive again after that!
I don't condone violence EVER but i tried diplomacy. |

My current upstairs neighbour is a fucking nightmare. Loud, no flooring down so noise is amplified by concrete floors, too many pets (one of which has half killed one of my pets) her car was petrol bombed (writing mine off) and she's a jailbird. She has parties til 3am regularly, doesn't work, her garden is totally overgrown and even on a weeknight she doesn't shut up til 1am. She's a council tenant and they're not very forthcoming in dealing with her! |

"Lol, 11 months of escalating hell next door to a crack house.
How we laughed.
"
Screaming, shouting, blaring music at all hours, scary-ass muthafukas hanging off the bell...
It eventually drove out our flatmate if 9 years.
I distinctly remember being woken one Easter by a thudding sound as the neighbour attempted to break into her flat as her benefits cheque was on the other side.
Last I saw of her was in The Sun, amazingly enough. She did a runner from hospital with her crack baby.
Hmmm. |

previous neighbours to the one I have now were a very young girl with a baby, and her boyfriend who was car mad..
she was lovely but very quiet but he was a total nightmare, really disrespectful and rude, used to fix peoples cars outside the house at all hours of the day and night and if I ever plucked up the courage to ask him to stop I got a mouthful of abuse...
they finally moved out because they said the neighbour on the other side was too noisy and after they left I found out from the landlady that he shouldn't have even been living there but she was too scared of him to say anything |

Well I've not checked where you live but here in portsmouth? Yeah we have some rough areas.
True story:
In a well reported tv scandal about crimes against children, a local gang of morons took to the streets armed with whatever they could grip with their opposable thumbs, and proceeded to target the house of a paediatrician |

* not quite.
Now I think of it, a couple years later, I was on Camberwell Church St waiting for a bus when the crowd parted and there she was.
She said, "Hi [Joe], I thought it was you. I'm resettled, clean and I've started a job.
"I saw you and just wanted to say I was sorry."

Lynch mobs arent good anyway but if they get their facts wrong , as they often do, chaos ensues. |

People do not realise how much noise can be generated from an upstairs flat. My neighbours had 2 small children when I lived below them in a flat. The kids would run up and down a lot and it sounded like a heard of elephants. Glad I moved away. |

Some years ago i had a succession of bad neighbours while living in a housing association flat, most of which were evicted for not paying their rent.
One was a smack head who advertised her services online as a dominatrix to feed her habit. Anything up to a dozen "clients" every day visiting, some of whom would knock on the wrong door. When she left they had to get a specialist team in to clear her flat of used needles.
Another one that sticks in the mind is a gay couple who were always arguing and smashing up their furniture. A few months after i moved out of my flat the police came to my new house to interview me. They were investigating the death of one of the couple and treating it as murder. They wanted a witness statement of what i had seen and heard in the time i lived there. |

The one I have at the moment. She was lovely and her ex bf was hitting her and I sort of helped him out the house with a bit of his own medicine.Since then she would always come round here and we got in really well and she's quite pretty so I was flattered by her constant attetention.I hadn't long spilt with my ex Mrs after a 10yr rel and I wasn't looking for another rel and I made that clear but my nieghbour was calling here every day and even started baking cakes lol and bringing them here. The thing is I know if I did fuck her it would have to be more than sex and I didn't want that and you can't do the just fuck thing on your own doorstep as when it goes wrong there's no escape. She called me round to wire her cooker up and as I was doing it she got changed in the downstairs bathroom and I could clearly see her totally naked in the full length mirror she conveniently placed by the door and as she came in to me now dressed I told her I was flattered but wasn't looking for a rel but I was sexually attracted to her as she's really pretty and it would be just sex and she told me she wanted more than that so I cooled it off and after then she would knock my door every time I had a visitor she would stand in her window every time I went out she told my mates Mrs I had fucked her and I hadn't and the last time we spoke I had her about it and asked why she lied and we had a bit of a argument and we haven't spoken since but it's constant looking out of her window just staring at me and it's getting really weird to the point of even my mates commenting on how stalkerish it's becoming and it just started as me being a good nieghbour and not letting her get knocked about by a bully.awkward and immature are the only words I can think of. |

One side my neighbours have chickens and some days, most days they make a god awful noise all day long!! Starting around about now until tonight.
Other side dogs can scream all day if the lazy son accidentally locks them in a room!!
Other than I'm quite lucky ! My other neighbours are great and actually some of our closest friends. |

I've been very lucky.
I lived in an inner city neighbourhood with a bad reputation for over ten years. My neighbors were the best! There was a real sense of community and an old fashioned village feel, people would look out for each other.
Our neighbours now are lovely too, although all leading busy lives we don't see much of each other. We do try to help out if we can. When we mow our lawns we also do the front of our neighbours both sides and they really appreciate it. We also give them some eggs from our hens occasionally when we have too many.
I often think that just a very small effort on both sides is all that's needed for a great neighbour relationship

Yes that's exactly it. Some people can't help but put words in other people's mouths. The words "housing association" have been used many times and I sincerely doubt people are partying until 4am on a weekday and then up at 8am again to go to their job. |

Reading through some of these stories I have to count myself very lucky! Can honestly not think of a single set of neighbours that ever caused problems at all. Sure some have been less friendly and chatty than others, but nothing malicious or horrendous at all, and whenever there have been minor "issues", they've always been resolved completely amicably and without fuss.

What not read the words that were written instead of the ones you imagined. What I said was that the people being described as 'bad neighbours' are overwhelmingly reliant on the welfare state for their chaotic lifestyles. Nowhere did I say or imply that other people in the housing association were like them, you simply made that up. |

Just now, actually. Not next door, but the next house again.
Sound like Syrians, Not English speaking. Run a brothel from the front room and the women are pimped out. Kids get turfed out the back while she's with a client. Make a hell of a lot of noise at night outside laughing and playing music loudly.
Been out and tried to tell them to shut the fuck up a few times but they hide away.
Then they also have people pull up outside the house blasting music loudly from the car at 11pm. The missus went out and knocked on the guys window to tell him to turn it down, guy didn't roll the window down but was totally aware the music was way too loud as he turned it down. So missus knocked harder until he rolled it down and she gave him an earful
She doesn't let me deal with them anymore, sadly. |

Our neighbours are rubbish. Loud music every single day. Violent (both kids imprisoned for stabbing) break my fence, stand on my garage, come in my garden, swear constantly, thrown their rubbish and other items in my garden, spit in my garden, on my car and on my washing, call you names for no reason (oi wanker) every single member of the family (5 of them) has threatened me with violence and damage to property. The list is huge. I don't know how I haven't killed one of them yet. |

Growing up, the neighbour used to climb over the fence in the night and rattle the backdoor handle, this only happened when my dad worked nights. Amongst other things.
I had a pen knife pulled on me by the charming son, he threatened me but I looked at the knife and laughed at him.
