I would suggest hanging around Chelsea and seeing if you can spot some of those annoying women from that God awful program...
Dunno why, chitty chitty bang bang (the kids film I hasten to add) always comes to mind when posh is mentioned...

Are we talking posh, or class?
Because I know a couple of people (brother and sister) who are the children of lord and lady something or other, and the phrase I use for them is "too posh to wash" scruffy gits, with the hygiene habits of 17th century peasants.
Yet the classyist woman I ever met was from the north east, she just ooozed class, the way she dressed, the way she carried herself, everything |

I must say I'm generally less drawn to people from Southern England in personality terms. As Irish we seem to get on better with the people from the north. Though there are some accents from the south that just make me get hard. If I'm dealing with people on the phone with what I would class as a posh English accent, I can actually get turned on just listening to it. |

So Darling
A real woman who can muck in when needed and has the fortitude to handle any situation
An adventurer that explores all worlds including FAB
A girl who loves shopping, is of course polite and smiles
An active carer for the homeless and underprivilaged
Has her own crockery even saying GILF
Loves a gent in his Jaefer-Le Coultre watch, holds himself tall and a man who just smells scrummy....
Enjoys beating the fellows when racing yachts or lifting weights
Is a tad odd/quirky/playful
Is she the type that had to have elocution lessons, tennis lessons and deportment lessons even before traditional classes started in the morning ?
Are they dyslexic - just like Leonardo da Vinci or Steve Jobs - perhaps .... Dyslexic's do think differently
Giggle - do you think posh birds give a fig about how the word FUCK or FUK is spelt? It's more about how you enunciated the gorgeous little word - and if you can perform it to satisfaction - I would have thought.
I suppose the question is - would the posh bird enjoy a bit of rough? Enough to call out at that appropriate moment "oh you bastard, FUK me"!
Do they exist in FAB world.... No, never and not at all...
Mwah |

I have partaken of a bit of rough occasionally. It can be fun but not in a totally satisfying way.
References to soap operas are lost on me. I don't even bother with TV as, from what I can gather, it's just the hoi polloi sharing their dirty laundry these days.
I'd be disappointed if someone wanted to shag me just because of my accent though |

Hmmm, well if you're dead posh, like aristocracy, then you can do what the hell you like and still be posh! For those who are just a bit posh it's more about accent, manners, style, lifestyle, education, habits - all those kinds of things rolled into one I guess. I view it as a friendly, affectionate term, it's just a giggle! |

Indeed;
" Class" is invented by those who feel they are "lower class" , in order to distinguish themselves from those that they think are above them.
And perpetuated by some who like to think they are better than others, when they are not.
Those who are better, don't give a stuff whether anyone thinks they are " posh" or not. |

I disagree, to some of the aristocracy it is not about superiority but 'noblesse oblige', which is an admirable quality in them IMO. They don't have to be in the wrong to accept they were born with a considerable avantage which confers a duty on them, it is what it is.
When I was nicknamed Posh on here I simply accepted it in the affectionate way it was intended, it amuses me in total innocence. |

Ah yes; just teasing you;
Of course you know that the French and Russian revolutions had nothing to do with the " peasants" but were both ( like almost every other revolution of that kind) conceived, planned , and led by upper middle class wealthy liberal intellectuals ; i.e. So called " posh" people .
And that since then, there have been just as many " posh" people in those countries than before.
The "peasants " played almost no part in it at all; they just carried on ploughing their fields; the only difference was that before the revolution, the bloke on the horse with gold braid and a feather in his hat represented the King, or the Tsar; after the revolution, the same bloke, same gold braid, same hat, represented the "government " the president" or " The people ". |

"Whatever, inverted snob here who thinks both the French and the Russians had the right idea...hums La Marseillaise while going to put washing out!
What idea was that?
Not sure if that's a serious question or a hugh bear trap, certainly from someone with a French name living in France!?! I'll play, the French revolution, guillotine, ditto Russia.
Ah yes; just teasing you;
Of course you know that the French and Russian revolutions had nothing to do with the " peasants" but were both ( like almost every other revolution of that kind) conceived, planned , and led by upper middle class wealthy liberal intellectuals ; i.e. So called " posh" people .

"Who is Lady C?
Seriously ?
In my own opinion one of the classiest women ( real class ) in this country
"
Lady C is Lady Colin Campbell.
She was formerly George William Ziadie until she had surgery to correct a birth defect ( she was always genetically female.
She is of Lebsnese/ Portuguese/ ZZJewish heritage, but born in Jamaica.
She is Lady Colin Campbell by virtue of having been married to Lord Colin Campbell for 14 months.
She is not in the slightest bit " posh", or "Upper Class, but appears to be so, simply due to to her affected speech, and by having made her way into some socialite circles, principally in New York. And by telling people she is.

Work with a Frenchman who educated me about the French revolution, mainly land redistribution I seem to remember. But yes, the co-called working classes in both cases really didn't give a monkeys. Just disgruntled educated middle classes, bit like me on here! |

I agree on that one lol - I stumbled across the castle programme a couple of weeks ago, and she is certainly a great character, very eccentric and entertaining, but not an English aristocrat. Socialite is more the word I think. |

I met her at London fashion week 3 years ago ( she hangs around the fashion crowd).
She is amusing for about 15 minutes, after which she is just boring, going on about the same thing ( herself) nonstop . |

It seems the lines between the so - called classes are blurred, and becoming more so. Quite rightly. It also seems the people trying to redefine them are the least classy of all. |

"Reading some of the posts.
I've possibly become confused
Is this thread about posh or class? "
People who understand neither and who are neither, cannot tell the difference; hence the confusion in the thread.

I'm working class, daddy bought me a tortoise rather than a pony. I went to a secondary school rather than a finishing school. I am intelligent but speak like Barbara Windsor. You can never judge a person by how they were brought up, or how well they speak, there are good and bad examples in all walks of life. |

"You do know lady C was born a man ?
Genetically female ..... bought up as a man by her family .."
Correct; she was born a female, with a vagina that was fused closed; and an enlarged clitoris; her mother would not accept the facts, so brought her up as a boy; ( and registered her as a boy in her birth certificate). She was lent money as a teenager to have corrective surgery , and changed her gender to the correct one on her documents. |
