Are we talking posh, or class?
Because I know a couple of people (brother and sister) who are the children of lord and lady something or other, and the phrase I use for them is "too posh to wash" scruffy gits, with the hygiene habits of 17th century peasants.
Yet the classyist woman I ever met was from the north east, she just ooozed class, the way she dressed, the way she carried herself, everything |

I must say I'm generally less drawn to people from Southern England in personality terms. As Irish we seem to get on better with the people from the north. Though there are some accents from the south that just make me get hard. If I'm dealing with people on the phone with what I would class as a posh English accent, I can actually get turned on just listening to it. |

I have partaken of a bit of rough occasionally. It can be fun but not in a totally satisfying way.

I disagree, to some of the aristocracy it is not about superiority but 'noblesse oblige', which is an admirable quality in them IMO. They don't have to be in the wrong to accept they were born with a considerable avantage which confers a duty on them, it is what it is.
When I was nicknamed Posh on here I simply accepted it in the affectionate way it was intended, it amuses me in total innocence. |

It's funny, apparently the most perfectly spoken English in the world. The pronunciation and enunciation, is in Dublin 4 (the poshest part of Dublin). I found that quite strange. |

Of course you know that the French and Russian revolutions had nothing to do with the " peasants" but were both ( like almost every other revolution of that kind) conceived, planned , and led by upper middle class wealthy liberal intellectuals ; i.e. So called " posh" people .
And that since then, there have been just as many " posh" people in those countries than before.
The "peasants " played almost no part in it at all; they just carried on ploughing their fields; the only difference was that before the revolution, the bloke on the horse with gold braid and a feather in his hat represented the King, or the Tsar; after the revolution, the same bloke, same gold braid, same hat, represented the "government " the president" or " The people ". |

She is of Lebsnese/ Portuguese/ ZZJewish heritage, but born in Jamaica.
She is Lady Colin Campbell by virtue of having been married to Lord Colin Campbell for 14 months.
She is not in the slightest bit " posh", or "Upper Class, but appears to be so, simply due to to her affected speech, and by having made her way into some socialite circles, principally in New York. And by telling people she is.

Work with a Frenchman who educated me about the French revolution, mainly land redistribution I seem to remember. But yes, the co-called working classes in both cases really didn't give a monkeys. Just disgruntled educated middle classes, bit like me on here! |

my mother corrects me even now on saying 'yeah' instead of yes. when i had singing lessons i was taught diction, through speaking to the end of a pencil, held between my teeth. i saved myself from two public schools. i dont have an accent as ive travelled too many places, but if you dont like it you could always keep my mouth full.;)
