My junior school dinners were the best there was nothing I disliked. I even loved the semolina. Best thing was cheese and onion flan. Everything was homemade.

I was just glad to eat. We often didn't have much food in the house. Free school dinners were my only hot meal.

King's Crustacean

I once put a lump of fat up my knicker leg and then threw it over the school field. Bastards were insisting I ate it. Thank fuck for defiance.

We used to get a pound to pay for lunch when at primary school but me and a couple of friends would skip the lunch and go to the ice cream van with the money. A packet of polos, Mintolos and rolos and a single cigarette and a couple of matches seemed a much better buy than stew and dumplings then a shitty steamed pudding and custard
