Following on from my thread on approaching beautiful people, here's an idea.

Instead of playing a forum game, today when you're out and about, any time you see someone you like the look of, you need to say hi to them. It doesn't have to be a full conversation starter, just smile and say hello, and see what happens.

I want to see how peoples experiences at this sort of thing in the real world differ from on here - its a Saturday, so get out there and spot a hottie!

People who do that around here are seen as nutters. I talk to old people and some women, not men.

I always say hello and smile at strangers if eye contact is made. It costs nothing to be nice

According to my other thread, no.

There's a big difference in saying hi to someone you pass in the street and going up and saying hello to someone in a pub.

I'll happily smile at, make eye contact with and greet people in general while in the street, on public transport, while queuing at a till or stood at a bar.

The smile and eye contact may change depending on the person in question, obviously.

However, I have never in my life chatted someone up.

So this is very very different from the other thread.

The other thread was about chatting up the most stunningly beautiful person you'd ever seen. This time it's saying hello to 'anyone you like the look of'. These are slightly different things. Anyway, I'm in a bad mood, so I won't be doing either.

Was in a cafe earlier, picking up tableware - they were short of it. A fanciable guy comes over, I spoke - he needed a fork, then I asked the assistant for some. I returned a few minutes later, picked mine and his up and walked back. We meet in the aisle, we both smiled and I gave him his fork, whilst he'd been walking to the till area. He was caught off-guard, and the love spread around. We're now Team Sophie.

I say hello to people I know but I wouldn't go out of my way to say hello to a stranger in case they ignored me..

and then I'd look daft

I look daft a lot, without trying but it doesn't stop me from starting conversations. I've gone on holidays with people that were relationships started from my chatting and flirting. Otherwise I prefer our world to be friendly and people not disconnected. I'm just back from a summer in the USA, where we generally talk to strangers more than in much of the UK.
