I have been doing it since I was 15, now you would think I would have it down to a fine art.
WRONG.
Got that new nice n easy foam one, well cause it looked easy.
NOT
Its on my fingers, in my nails, up my arms, and im scared to look at my hair line. Just used half a bottle of nail varnish remover to try and get rid, and im still covered in it.
Another 20 mins and I can get in the shower and hopefully get it off. |

if the dye still doesnt come of skin after you rinse your hair, go to hair dresser's whole sale and get the bleachy stuff(can find out name of it later, if you need to know) its used to mix dyes in hair dressers and it takes the dye of skin. hope this helps.
Btw what colour have you gone? |

I have that bleachy stuff, when I go red I use a proper dye that would be used in hairdresser's and mix myself, shop bought reds arnt the same on my hair, im to dark.
Going dark brown, got my hair cut yesterday, and I had 3 tier hair, roots grey, next inch bright red, rest of hair a dulled red! I look at my hair every day, but I hadnt noticed how bad it was, till I was sitting on that chair, under they wonderful hairdresser lights. |

before u dye ur hair, smear some vaseline on ur hair line, round the back of ur neck and on your ears, dye wont stick to it. to get vaseline or any oils off your skin, first rub soap or shampoo on ( without water ) rub in (use very very little water if the soap wont make a lather ) then rinse and wash as normal. |

forgot to add, to stop dyes or anything going under ur finger nails, run your nails across a bar of soap first , agin nothing will stick to the soap. |

"I put vaseline round my hair line..over my ears..down my neck..anywhere i'm likely to get dye really...then it just wipes off wnen i'm done"
See I know I should do that. Sense tells me that.
But being a hash bash type of person, that just seems to much like hard work.
I would rather throw it on, then moan like a bitch, then spend 30 mins in the shower scrubbling my skin till im bright red!

I used to love dying my hair myself and would often sport a different colour. Until the day I decided to home dye over my blond highlights. I ended up with about an inch of dark brown roots, then about 3 inches of BRIGHT blonde hair, the rest was orange.
Needless to say since then I have left coloring to the professionals! |

The only time I go to the hairdresser for a colour is if im going blonde, after a ginger disaster trying to do it myself.
£5 dye for me. I use a well known hairdresser supply shop for my reds, my red in there is a tenner, mix it up, put it on, job done. To get the same colour done in a hairdresser is £50+.
At the rate im going grey, couldnt afford to get mine done at the hairdresser's.
And its that old lady your old grey, not the white/sliverly, that might look good all over grey.

I do my roots myself cause I'm also properly grey! But I buy tubes of dye from Sally's and mix them myself. I've never really rated the chemist dyes. It's still cheaper than the hairdressers and I use Andrex kids wipes to get any excess dye off. This is on my list of things to do today. |

The cleansing wipes get rid of it easier.
I found it much easier to use than the normal dyes, what the hell were you doing with yours lol |

The nice and easy foam is a nightmare as its not really a foam - just like the bubbles you get on an ice cream soda
John Frieda foam is worth the extra ( although often on for half price) That really is a foam and so easy to apply. Just be careful with the colour matches - tends to be a shade darker then you think

I know this sounds obvious, get someone to help. I have dye my own (in my punk days) and it works best if you take all the nessesary precations, vaseline and baby wipes. But add help it is a far much less stress fully ordeal.
I help with all my friends and it works out OK. As long as its not me selecting the colour, no blame you see. |

Have to agree that the Clairol "Foam" is a joke, I got free vouchers to try it and I won't be using it again. The Foam is not a foam but a mess of liquid which goes everywhere!!
Thanks for the tip on the John Freda foam I will try that one.
