I still love it now.

Planet Ork

Even now when Mrs Absolutebeginner is in the bath I will say to her “do you really need the light on in here” and when she says yes I reply “why, what are you planning to do, photosynthesise “?

Oh what witty repartee, talk about Oscar Wilde.

"Will you shut up I'm trying to read?"

"What are you reading Vivian, bit of French drama? Bit of petrarchian verse?"

"It's called SS Deathcamp criminal battallion go to monte casino for the massacre"

"Oi that's my bloody comic!"

There and to the left a bit

One of those classic shows that you'd watch and then endlessly quote the next day at work - rare they make them like that any more.

"Open up it's the pigs"

Did anyone like Filthy Rich and Catflap or The Dangerous Brothers?

You can see how the characters were fine tuned by the time they wrote Bottom.

Wasn't that taken with Filthy Rich etc but loved The Dangerous Brothers and always assumed the Bottom characters were just an expansion on them

Yes. The main change by Bottom was the dynamic in their characters. It was a juxtaposition. Both entirely hopeless but Richie a proud to be British man of virtue and Eddi a total d*unken slob. A lot of humor resulted from their friction. My favourite comedy.
