Wasn't that taken with Filthy Rich etc but loved The Dangerous Brothers and always assumed the Bottom characters were just an expansion on them |

Yes. The main change by Bottom was the dynamic in their characters. It was a juxtaposition. Both entirely hopeless but Richie a proud to be British man of virtue and Eddi a total d*unken slob. A lot of humor resulted from their friction. My favourite comedy. |
