What killed dogging?

I've been on the dogging scene for around 15 years and it's always had highs a lows but the past few years it's just gone quieter and quieter, to the point that some infamous spots are completely empty night after night. Well, of couples at least.

So what's caused the demise?

Is it national or just the midlands?

I think it's largely due to the wide knowledge people have now, dogging has become well known and heavily mocked, the channel 4 documentary followed by top gear and many dogging base jokes on tv.

It's has created a vibe where people feel embarrassed to partake.

It's also bought the youth out to what were safe and carefree spots.

What's everyone else's thoughts?

I know that the area near me where it was notorious , they chopped lots of trees down so it was difficult for the diggers to do it discreetly there. I agreed with it as it was way out of control

The Internet....

The publicising of so many 'hot spots' has only served to draw too much unwelcome attention. Thus causing the diminishing numbers of couples and the explosion in the amount of men hanging around. We used to enjoy a bit of outdoor naughtiness but started to feel intimidated by the amount of guys just thinking they could help themselves to a piece of the action.

That's a good point, prior to the drop off it had got very popular, there is a small area near me, were the public walk their dogs in the daytime, and lone females were being followed and hounded. It's a disgrace to act like that.

There used to be much more discretion and people knew the way to behave.

Even if a couple were there, if you were not clearly invited, you left the, alone.

I don't know what it's like round Bristol now but one area that's particularly popular with men got hosed down by the fire brigade a few years back

Another very good point, some places now, there are large groups of men that have each other's numbers and text each other if a couple is near, so ten cars turn up.

Again, really poor behaviour

Now we just go to private places for car naughty and if we want company, we'll invite people.

Keeps it off the radar and away from the spotlight

Bristol

We went out a few weeka ago to check out a few areas

Tog hill - during the day was like a really bad joke at the full monty and during the night was full of boy racers tearing the area to shreds....doughnuts, handbreak skids the lot.

Clifton downs - did this at night and it was packed with kids and more boy racers.

We drove home and are trying to find an area where we know is quite and can do pre arranged meets

I might just be a shift in trends and with more clubs becoming available its not a hard trade off really. Back seat of a car or go to a warm club and play.

On the risk of coming across a little "ageist"...when turning up and your greated with the casts of dads army both tv series and film its hardly a turn on for us.
