Do you look your age?
Jump to: Newest in thread
I was told last night I don't, as well as being chuffed,it made me realise I really am rubbish at guessing ages.
So do you think you look your age, if so/if not why? and if you look younger, please spill your secrets!!!! |

I think I look my age, not massively older or younger. I'm not convinced that as many people do look younger as seem to be told they do, it's maybe just an easy compliment to give. Either that or everyone has a strange view of what people are "supposed" to look like at different ages.
(Not a personal comment to the OP - I don't know whether you look young for your age or not, just an observation ) |

I never have, which was a nightmare when I was younger and I had to carry ID with me, even for buying booze in a supermarket

I don't look my age either. There's no secret to it though, unless you count never using soap but then I don't use lotions or potions either. I use bio oil cause my skin is dry and I have a scar that needs attention. I think I'm just pretty lucky... my parents are 75 and neither of them look their age either. |

I dont try and look younger because i dont feel the need to. The only thing im glad about is that i havnt gone completely grey which most people do at 56. Being fat means i havnt got as many wrinkles as i would have if i was skinny and i stay out of the sun as much as possible. |

People often tell me I don't look my age but if they looked closely at my hands, neck etc I reckon they could hazard a fairly close guess.
I was watching Joanna Lumley last night and her appearance confirmed my belief that its confidence, posture, clothes and hair coupled with good bone structure and genes that make one person appear younger than another. However my gp did tell me that chronological and physiological age don't always correlate. |

A few people have said I looked younger than 53 (one guessed 45 - lol).
Can't deny the march of time, though - each time I get a haircut, there's a bit more grey and the tired wrinkles under my eyes, are a dead giveaway. |

There's a difference between reality and flattery, so I don't believe everything I'm told. It's really up to other people to decide whether I look my age. |

I'm always told I look younger than my age and put it down to good genes, a careful skincare regime, never smoking and having no grey hairs. My parents are both in their 70s and still look mid-50s.
I guess it depends on who you're being compared to and the situation. |

No, I look older.
Was very happy with that when I could get onto pubs and clubs, not so much now im nearly 30.
Doesnt help that my sister who is 6 and a half yrs older than me looks far younger than she is, and people get us the wrong way around as they think I'm the eldest. |

"I was told last night I don't, as well as being chuffed,it made me realise I really am rubbish at guessing ages.
So do you think you look your age, if so/if not why? and if you look younger, please spill your secrets!!!!"
I'm told by everyone that's ever met me on and off fab, I look 10 years (give or take a couple of years) younger then I am. No I'm not 28 by the way. I'm in my 30's. I wrote the age I consider myself to look and no one ive met has thought differently. I always tell them my true age before actually meeting though.
Am I wrong to state the age I look rather then the age I actually am? No one's had any issues with it either way. In actual fact the younger guys are relieved because they adore older women and the older guys are also relieved because they suddenly feel less of a perv! (A meets words not mine!).
Another example...When My driving instructor knocked at my house, first thing he said was is your mum there please. Lol! |

I tend to think most people look roughly their age and the exceptions tend to look older, but most people say, oh i'm always being told i don't look my age.
My theory is that today people look younger generally than people of the same age 20 years ago, just our perception hasn't caught up |

Surprising how most of us have been told we don't look the age we are,I wonder why that is! So if most of us have been told we look younger where are the people who do look their age. I think we all probably just look the age we actually are to be honest, non of this crap yeah I look at least ten year's younger than I am.

My secret? God only knows. My mum used to tell me to moisturise daily etc etc.

I remember at 18 I had a new born and 6 and 8 yr old step daughters. The looks I got them calling me mum |

I have thought about this. I don't always just post random bits of nonsense.
It's lots of things combined. Like, better dental health (bad teeth/no teeth is very aging), more protein, suncream, not being outside as much, more leisure time and better grooming products.

Quite so. Less back breaking work, and longer hols too. So, are we nearly all agreed we look younger than we are? Mind you there is chronological age, and there is biological age.... |
