Anyone ever found any money laying on the floor or anywhere?

Once long time ago when Jools and I where young, our son was only a few months old and we were brasic, skint pretty much potless, we had cobbled together some coppers enough to get some baby food.

We were walking around the shops to get it and I saw the corner of a twenty pound note on the floor.

I picked it up saying bloody typical, and how much we could have done with the whole thing.

At this point we noticed dozens of tiny pieces of twenty pounds all over the grass.

Clearly someone had dropped an envelope with money in and the council cutters had mown it.

We scrambled about for about an hour picking up every tiny bit.

Rushed home and proceed to get all the bits in order, jools ironed them flat and with stuck them tog with sellotape.

I cycled to the local bank and as the serial numbers were intact they replaced them.

£40.

Yesssss

Now ordinarily I would have handed it in to the police.

But we were pretty desperate and hell we just saw it as a blessing at the time.

Baby food, nappies, food for us.

Result.

Obviously still feel a bit guilty as it could have been someone's pension or savings.

Honestly at the time it did feel like it was meant to be.

Found £40 in Scottish twenties on the pavement one night coming home after pub quiz. Split them with the person I was with...

And could I get any bugger in a shop to take them?

It says £20 STERLING!

Had to change it at the post office in the end.

ffs

We found a wallet in the changing rooms at the Sand Castle in Blackpool a few years back with just short of £900. we told the receptionist and she said she would give it too the person if they came back for it, we refused to hand her it and left the number of the place we were staying at. When we got back to our hotel there had been a call so we rang the guy in question and he came straight away for it. He was over the moon as he and his wife and kids had only been in Blackpool for a day and it was there holiday savings. He gave our kids £20 which I thought was very decent of him

Way back in the mists of time (when boys still spent their time playing on the local tip looking for pram wheels for a go-cart) we found an old Roman gold coin hidden down the back of a dumped sofa.

With hindsight, the fact that said sofa was only 20 years old max should have triggered something, but we were already preparing to be interviewed on John Craven's Newsround from that fella from the Sutton Hoo dig.

When we got home, our Dad pointed out that the lady on it wasn't Boadicca, that all British coins had Latin on them, and that it was apparently an old brass thupenny bit, that had become worthless only a few years before.

Hi, was unemployed and skint, was out walking with my girlfriend and found a twenty pound note in a puddle, no one was about and it must have been there a while as it was ready to turn to mush, took it home, dried it and after that my life changed for the better, got a job and lived happily ever after. When our kids were small and we had next to nothing I spotted a £10 note blowing along the empty pavement as we drove past. Screeched to a halt and picked it up.

I'd say at that time it almost doubled our weekly food budget.

A few years back I found an envelope on the high street with about 5k in there not sure what I would of done in the long run as before I had the chance to mull it over I saw a middle aged man sat on a bench crying his eyes out thought the two may of been connected so asked what was wrong he explained that he'd just withdrawn it from the bank to buy a new family car and he must of missed his pocket when he went to put it away so I handed it to him and honestly the look on the guys face was worth it as he was so grateful and happy. Still waiting for the good karma to come to me though

I found €6 on the beach in Cap D'Agde next to my sun bed at Paralia.. About as good as it gets..

I then found Babylone had rinsed me for somebody else's lunch and I missed it when checking the bill.. Net loss of €20!

I'm not really a believer in Karma as I have seen so many dam right evil people have lots of luck when a lot of good people do not.

But I would always return money if it was in a wallet or bag with some kind of identification in it or that I knew who had lost it, if a stranger then they would be able to describe the wallet or bag.

Found just short of £300 on the floor in Brum once. Early hours of the morning, all in crisp twenties and clipped together with a large paperclip. That was a result

I've also more than once handed purses and wallets in to the police as the owners were identifiable

hiding from cock pics.

I once accidentally put over £200 in recycling... I really hope someone found it and enjoyed it.

Massive loss to me though.

I found a £1 coin on the floor while out shopping. I gave it to the first charity shop I came to.

I've not found any money but all my presents, cards included from my 30th were accidentally mixed with rubbish bags, everything was taken to the local skip so I'm sure someone enjoyed that.

Most gutting bit was when people told me what they'd given, money, vouchers for horse stuff etc.

Herts

When I was about 7 and on holiday, I was swimming around the bottom of our hotel pool with a cheap pair of flippers and goggles I'd just bought.

Was happily circling around when I came across a roll of Euros in an elastic band - turned out to be €80!

It was end of season and nobody else was around the pool so...

Unquenchable Desires

When I worked at London Dungeon, found a wallet with £300 in it. Put it in lost & found because it was someone's holiday money.

I was in Paris a few years back, we were walking along a very quiet road on a Sunday and as I walked past a cash machine I noticed a wad of cash sticking out. I took it out and had a look round, there wasn't a soul about and the bank was closed as it was Sunday so I pocketed it and took the mrs to the moulin rouge that evening. My bad I know

I must have An evil streak because if I find a score on the street it becomes mine but if it's a purse or bag then it must be handed in on principle

I found a lottery ticket on the floor outside my house once. I Thought. What the hell let's see if it's a winner. Blow me down I won a tenner with it.

Not quite the same but kinda odd.
