A friend of mine came across a badger by the side of a road. Picked it up, put it on the backseat and drove to the vets.

The vet wouldn't even approach the car and called the RSPCA. The officer arrived in armour with a net on a bloody long pole.

My friend received a stern lecture about the strength of a badger and the damage it can inflict.

East Sussex

We had a badger who used our garden as a cut through but we managed to get him or her to reroute, they cause huge damage digging holes. It now walks down the street instead probably cursing our high fence and gate for making it take the long way round.

Here we cull poor badgers. We have killed nearly 100,000 badgers and only about 70,000 remain

Uk stopped culling years ago as it made no difference to amount of cattle that caught TB

Pooch got up close and personal to a badger I had to get between them , luckily they were both just inquisitive, in a fight badger would have made a mess of both of us . They are gentle in the wild but when they get mad , keep well away.

It would take 2 or 3 pit bulls to kill 1 badger. Illegal baiting still happens .

For anyone not sure how much fight a badger will have in it, read

The culling is a waste of time, cars seem to do a good enough job.

The poor badger is at a disadvantage when crossing the road, being black with a white line up its middle..

Fortunately it's not a yellow line.. You'd probably get a parking ticket for stopping on one.

When my next doors neighbours moved in years ago they set about putting up nice new wooden fencing at the bottom the their garden and a nice wooden gate at the side of the house. The other neighbours said not to waste their time and money because their garden was a badger run, the beasties roamed down the side of their house and down the garden and out onto the school field. Pompous new neighbour said badgers wouldnt bother once he had his side gate up. Everyone tried to tell him but no, he knew best.

A couple of night later we could hear something battering against the new gate, then it clattered to the ground. I got up and looked out the bedroom window and saw Mr Brock ambling down the neighbours nice newly laid turf. Mr Brock decided he needed to go to the toilet and promptly dug a nice big patch out of the turf and left a present. He then ambled off down the garden to the new fence. He battered the fence but couldn't shift the panel so he dug his way under it and started pulling at the base of it with his jaws. He had his bit of fun and buggered off across the school field.

Next morning Mr Smarty Pants next door was ranting and raving about badger damage.Oh the pleasure lots of passers by got from telling him 'told you so'.

He tried replacing his gate and fence panels several times only to finally admit defeat. Now he leave his side gate slighty open for Mr. Brock to push his way past. He's actually put a short piece of large pipe under his fence so that the badgers can just wander through.

Mind you the badger and sometimes another stop in the garden and decide to have fun and go for a root about and a snack in the garden before wandering onto the school field.

Badger 1 - La Di Dah Neighbour 0!!

No given the chance the badger will run from you

Badgers only attack when attacked by other animals or men

And you won't catch TB either. It's bovine TB
