I decided to rewrite my profile today and the first PM I got said it was wonderfully 'loquacious' - I had no idea what that meant so I had to go look it up!
Nail and head pretty much so I stole it! It's a good word! I like learning new stuff and my mum always said that if you don't know what something means then you should look it up in the dictionary!
What was the last word you looked up? |

"I just looked up 'loquacious its a good word"
That's sort of why I didn't put the meaning in... I like that you looked it up too (I'm also glad I'm not the only one who didn't know what it means!!) |

I may be using it now. I do like using new words, or words that have more than one meaning and ive always tended to use the one meaning. In my profile i use the word reinassance to describe myself |

Concupiscent...I found it one day when I was looking for something else in the thesaurus. I also like to know what words mean and head straight for the dictionary if I come across one that I'm unfamiliar with, or uncertain about the meaning. I did know what loquacious meant though
Now I'm off to peruse Diamonds profile to see how "renaissance" fits, lol |

Was he a 'devil' from Scotland? Perth/Dundee area?
I look up words all of the time but don't use online dictionaries. I use my trusted OED and Pears Antonym and synonym references. Last thing I looked up one net was to see if Max Bygraves is still alive!!!
Its an excellent word to be introduced to though.

just reading the definition of loquacious reminded me of a thing i learnt when studying the Japanese language ...
the main writing is similar to chinese with many characters (letters) being a pictorial representation of the their meaning, then by using the written character in combination represents a larger amount ....
for example writing the character for tree twice together represents a Copse, and 3 times represents a Forest ...
write the character for a woman 3 times together however is translated as ...
Noisy, Clamorous

Interesting use of words. All brilliant words if used in context.
About two years ago i stumbled across the word TACITURN. An awesome use of terminology that can be applied to oh so many on here!!! |
